OTW LCFC Prediction League - Round 1

OK, I admit it. Impatience has got the better of me. If City hadn't been involved in the Community Shield on 7th August, I could probably have waited another week. Any excuse, really.

Not too much to say about the pre-season run outs, although I was surprised to see Ghezzal featuring twice. Couldn't help but notice how good his set piece delivery was. Masawanhise looks a real prospect, as does Ben Nelson and Dewsbury-Hall has had a fair start.

LCFC PREDICTION LEAGUE - RULES 2021/22


This season we will use the modified scoring system as trialled in the Euros, as follows:

Correct result - 3 points (instead of the 1 point we used last season)
Number of goals scored by each team - 3 apiece, as before. If you get a perfect score - 9 points.

Margin of victory - 2 additional points (instead of just 1). Additionally, where a draw has been predicted but the score is wrong, 2 extra points for predicting a margin of zero. Thus, if you predict 2-0 and it's 3-1 or 4-2, you get 3 for the result and an extra 2 for getting the margin right. With draws, if you've gone for 2-2 and it finishes 1-1 or 3-3 etc, you get 3 for the correct result plus two for predicting a zero margin.

Double points - we did that for all the City games last season. We'll keep the concept but you can now pick which match you'd like for the chance of double points. It's entirely up to you. For those of you old enough to remember, it's the same as BBC TVs "It's A Knockout" where you got to play your joker to double up your points. All you'll need to do is to indicate on your prediction submissions which match you are going for. Just add "Double" or "X 2".

For all cup ties where extra time and penalties feature, score at 90 minutes counts.

If a player fails to nominate their choice of match for double points, the last game in the set will be the default position in the event that no response is received from the notification of the failure, as posted on ja606.

BONUSES:

The Top 5 for the week receive the following

1st - 25 points
2nd - 15 points
3rd - 10 points
4th - 6 points
5th - 3 points

100 points – Number LCFC goals* (Premier League only) (reduced by 10 for every goal your prediction differs). See note *

100 points - LCFC* Premier League goal difference - reduced by 10 for every goal your prediction differs. See note *

50 points – LCFC* League position (reduced by 10 for every position your prediction differs from the final table). See note *

25 points – LCFC* League position on Christmas Day. See note *

I am fairly certain that we will have a number of guests who support other clubs this season. That being the case, predictions for number of goals scored, goal difference, final position and position on Christmas Day can relate to their club of choice. However, all four bonuses must relate to the same club. It is not permitted, for example, to provide predictions in respect of, say Liverpool or Aston Villa, but predict Brentford to be bottom on Christmas Day.

X points - Top Premier League scorer (number of points = number of goals scored).

Name the three teams to be relegated - final position not relevant - just name the teams to go down - 25 points per correct prediction.

YOUR SEASON LONG BONUS CHOICES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 13TH AUGUST, I.E. BEFORE THE PREMIER LEAGUE KICKS OFF.

Where the are no Premier League fixtures (international breaks, FA Cup weekends, etc) then fixtures from League 1 or League 2 will feature. Leicester’s group in the Europa League will also feature as part of the week’s set.
