Free the 'Tottenham One'

Sandy deleted my comment on his anti Kane article so I thought I'd get other people's thoughts.

Most Spurs fans are saying 'Kane signed a long contract and should honour it'. That seems like a one sided argument to me.

Kane signed a 6 year contract after being told he is pivotal to the Spurs team and with Poch having just signed a 5 year contract a couple of months earlier after being promised backing, things were looking rosy with both Poch & Kane believing the club is pushing on to the next level.

Fast forward 18 months. The backing promised to Poch didn't materialise and the team stagnated. Poch was sacked with 3+ years left to run, showing Levy feels it's OK not to honour a contract when it suits him.

Levy then brings in the master of Anti-Football Mourinho on a 3.5 year contract and backed him to the tune of £125m+. 17 months later he was also gone, another contract not honoured by Levy. Also, Mourinho was sacked just before a cup final showing Levy isn't interested in winning trophies.

Now he's brought in another defensively minded manager proving the club have ZERO ambition and showing Kane he has no chance of ever winning silverware with the club he's been loyal to since he was a kid.

There are rumours about a "gentleman's agreement" between Levy & Kane made last year and most Spurs fans have sait it would have had a clause saying Kane could leave this summer 'if a reasonable offer came in for him'. When this 'agreement' was made Kane's value was less than the current £108m https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-kane/profil/spieler/132098 so for Levy to turn down a reported £100m offer from City is dishonourable as £100m is a reasonable offer in everyone's eyes except Levy.

Oh and anybody disputing the transfermarkt valuation, do one, you're all happy to use the same site to prove your points against rival fans so the valuation is correct in this context, especially in this covid-19 climate.

Discuss.

Sorry, how £100m not a reasonable offer?

I suppose it's because it's City making the offer.

Everyone uses transfermarkt for their player valuations but because it's Kane it's not right.

Get over yourselves, Kane is worth what a buying club believes he's worth at the time and at this time in this climate where clubs have lost millions due to covid-19 he's not worth the asking price.

I believe Levy is playing a dangerous game here. If he forces Kane to stay against his will, I can see Kane running down his contract and going on a free, leaving Spurs with no means of getting a replacement of any quality.

When there is 3 years left on your contract then you are worth a combination of what the selling club are willing to sell for and what a buying club are willing to pay.

I can all but guarantee you that if it is to happen this summer then it will be £150m +. I don’t think City will pay that, but I do think United will pay £100m next summer once City have landed Haaland

I think a lot of the fee will depend on how much is upfront.

£110m up front in one go is a very good offer, spread over five years not so much.

I'm hoping he stays at Spurs but that looks unlikely atm.

I do t think this is as useful as it was previously as there are finance companies that can front the whole guaranteed cash up front and then take the payment in the instalments with a small amount of interest. I’m sure we could get a deal at about 0.50% - that’s £750,000 on a £150m fee.

A "contract" does not appear to have the same meaning in football as it does in other areas of life. It would be interesting to see players being paid weekly with a week's notice either way.
At my age I am quite happy to see the other dinosaurs come back and rule the world (as long as they bring Imogen Hassal with them) - not Ms Squelch.

I see you still have nothing to contribute to ANY discussion. Your life must be insanely dull if all you can do is cry about is other teams getting VALID penalties.

Maybe if Spurs were good enough to get into the opposition penalty area more often then they might get more penalties.

Maybe football isn't for you, why not try another sport, something like egg and spoon racing.

Does Kane deserve to go....yes.

Do spurs have the right to demand the maximum...yes.

Kane in hindsight was daft to sign a 6 year deal...4 which I'm sure is regarded as the standard and he'd hold all the cards right now.
