Tomiyasu where art thou?

Seems to have gone quiet...we signed Gil whilst at the Olympics why couldn't we do the same for Tomiyasu?

Will just repeat what I’ve just said on the transfer thread which is essentially we will be starting against City with last seasons team, minus Toby. Absolute facking shambles IMO, don’t give a fack if there’s a couple of weeks transfer left, the outright failure to appoint a manager or refresh the squad in a timely enough way to give us a fighting chance at the start of the season is a joke. We’ve had 4 months since Jose was sacked and we’ve achieved virtually nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeez...what if we win? How will you feel? Still vexed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Good chance Spurs will win, they have won the last four encounters at WHL, both old and new ground, the only defeats recently have come at Wembley. City themselves will be also understrength, no Foden, De Bruyne for a start, and I suspect there will be others missing, so no reason Spurs cannot win again, they have beaten far better City sides, than the one they are liable to face at the weekend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. Can’t see anything but a Spurs win this weekend, especially with the Paratici factor and our brilliant pre-season. Nothing but excitement for the season ahead. Our fans need to be stop being so negative.

Totally agree with Ace.

I will happily admit I was wrong if Nino can get a tune out of Dier, Winks, Sanchez, Davies, Aurier, Dele. Even just one or two of them.
I’m pretty close to putting NDombele on that list and Lo Celso isn’t far off either

Surely you can see that the whole Kane situation affects everything.

Are we going to have £50m to spend or £200m?

Can we afford bog standard or top draw?

We could have spent £50m on another RB and CB and FWD only to find we suddenly have £150m in our lap and able to spend twice that or more.

For example there are numerous £15-20m CBs out there across Europe. But if we are able to add someone like Kounde to our ranks then wow! But that won;t happen while he may have other options and while we may not have the money in hand to buy him.

Its far from ideal but it amazes me season after season why fans expect us to go out there and get deals done in June. Very few clubs achieve this and the higher up the scale of talent you go the harder it is to get deals done unless you are one of the elite who can offer everything.

BTW, Utd havent even confirmed Varane yet. Almost every single club will get its major deals done int the next few weeks.

We need to be more proactive we have known we need a striker either as a replacement or backup for Kane for the last 2 seasons, there have been numerous futile attempts to bring someone in but its been clear that they were only plug gap efforts not serious commitments, now we get to the stage we're in all seriousness Son could be our only Striker to start the season with, if we had been reactive and bought someone like Watkins or Toney last season we would be prepared for the eventual loss of Kane, this situation still applies whether this season or next he will leave or be injured, we need to be more proactive instead of reactive to this situation

There will always be deals that go down to the wire, but that shouldn’t be every deal the club does. It’s perfectly feasible for a club to scout targets and get them in in a timely way. Liverpool did a very good job of this while building their title winning side. Leicester and Villa have both done efficient business this window.

Yes, the Kane situation will affect things but the club holds all the cards here and so should know it’s stance on this and have budgeted accordingly early on - they shouldn’t be letting our whole rebuild hinge on it. The only thing that absolutely has to hinge on it is Kane’s direct replacement.

The fact is we are as it stands going into this season worse off than how we ended last season. Possibly no Kane for the City game, no Toby but no Romero either and even if he were fit it’s unreasonable to think a 23 year old with no PL experience can come in and magically have a VVD like influence on a defence that includes Dier, Sanchez, Aurier & Davies.

To me this is mismanagement, lack of forward planning. ENIC have been at it 20 years, they should be experts in running a football club by now (on the field) yet they seem to get so much wrong. I spent years being positive in the face of criticism - I wanted Poch in Jan 2014 when all and sundry were calling for LGV and was one of this biggest backers, I defended the board during lean times because you could see what we were trying to achieve off the field. These last two years I’ve had no idea what we have been trying to achieve, where we are going as a club, what the hell our identify is anymore. I‘ve deleted every email from them asking me to renew my membership since the ESL fiasco.

I like you Devon but I don’t subscribe to your mantra of continuously acting as an apologist for the club in the face of such poor stewardship. I like Nuno and back him all the way and will never not cheer the team on, but that is a different thing from absolving the club from all criticism when IMO it’s perfectly valid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ace, this is exactly how I feel about our current situation .

The club is an utter shambles atm and that is entirely down to levy and Enic.

I’ve seen nothing in preseason to change my feeling that this will be yet another disappointing season.

It’s gonna take another summer transfer window to sort the mess out, clubs are skint so it’s making it harder to shift players.

Sandy, stop talking to yourself ffs. How many sock accounts is that now mate ? 100? you make it so bloody obvious too because your sock accounts have exactly the same opinion as you and they always randomly pop up

Totally agree with Ace unsurprisingly. Romero is a very exciting signing but he’s not even fit, so we go into the hardest game of the season with 2 of the biggest clowns Sanchez and Dier still stinking out our defence. How the f** has it come to this? The same awful defence as last season starts the season!!! Utter shambles. All our activity should of been done and dusted, with a defence fully strengthened. The Harry Kane is a ridiculous excuse for the Levy apologists. You identify that striker replacement and if Harry goes towards the end, you replace him. This shouldn’t affect any other deals whatsoever. No excuse for how we are still weaker than last season.

The new GK has looked good in pre season when he’s played and Gil is an exciting prospect but these were not our priorities, all of our energies should’ve been focused - three months ago - on rebuilding that defence. The fact we start the City game with the same collection of clowns that threw point after point away last season is astonishing to me and I do not accept any excuses for it, it’s unacceptable.

Fofana got injured a week ago and Leicester have already wrapped up a replacement in Vestergaard so don’t give me excuses.

I would at this point genuinely rather get Gary Cahill in on a free and put him in against City than watch Dier.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ace, I’d rather Tanganga and Rodon. 2 bloody rookies. That’s how much I rate Sanchez and Dier. Pair of utter clowns and they are both going to be starting v City.
