Said it loads of time spending 50mil on a cb who's barely 6ft is a joke. You might get away with it in Europe but its different in the pl.

To think Arteta said Saliba wasn't ready as his heading wasn't strong. The guy was 6ft4 ffs I guarantee he's better than white in the air.

Spanked 50mil on a position we could have got away with not reinforcing.

Arteta, Edu and Vinai will be fired before Christmas and it will be another season wasted. The fans know more about which players are good/bad than they do. They are killing this club and the Kroenkes as their employers are to blame.

Baresi was 5 foot 8. Cannavaro was 5 foot 9.

They were both pretty good centre backs and did fine in the air.


Ben White's problem isn't that he's too short - if you're 6 feet tall then you've almost certainly got the dimensions required to compete physically with anyone alive barring extreme outliers of the human race if you train and condition yourself.

Ben White's problem is that he's a typical 23 year old and not a Tony Adams or Wayne Rooney who were ready for the full physical side of the top division of English football before they were 20.

It's up to White to get stronger and get aggressive, or he'll just get targeted and bullied every single week now he's Arsenal's main defensive man.

Absolutely spot on, he's plenty tall enough to be good to great in the air. Also, not every striker has height and strength, just look at Danny Ings or Aubameyang.

His development has largely focused on his technical ability / passing in recent years (I assume), I'm sure we will work on his physical side as well now.

It makes me sick how people can start writing a player off after one game where he wasn't even that bad and given the situation we found ourselves in against Brentford with Chambers on one side of him and Mari on the other.
