Pre season myth

Time to dispell the "It's only pre season" "Dont panic, its not about winning, its just about fitness" sayings

Nah

Sorry but if you're shipping 11 goals in 4 games with 3 of them by a side that didn't score against Wolves and Derby before playing us, then you have problems. Good teams don't lose 4 nil 8 days before the season starts unless they have issues, and we do, quality and DEPTH. Phillips was ALWAYS going to be a slow starter after his summer exploits yet we didn't address it, we knew months ago that he'd be away with England who were nailed on to progress far. What's the point in signing 20 youth players every window if once in a while you don't actually use one.
Owners have wasted 4 weeks chasing Gallagher and 3 weeks chasing O'brien, they're not up to this time around it seems. They've got 2 weeks to pull there fingers out and stop worrying about weekly wages or else we could be in for an uncomfortable season, Everton and Burnley aren't a given neither.

2 games before a 2 week International break, you watch as we make our signings just before the window closes in order for them to get 2 weeks to settle into the club, when they could have been signed weeks ago and in contention to start the next 2.

Leeds are home next right? Could make a difference to energy levels. I certainly think it did today for us.

Yes should be a cracking atmosphere v Everton and apart from last season a fixture we do well in.

You seem a decent MU fan. You’ve not come on here to rub our noses in it. Your team were far superior to ours today, but you’ve had 16 years to build a great squad whilst we were languishing in League One and the Championship. As long as we can stay in this league and build bit by bit we should eventually be challenging for a top six spot. After today’s result, as long as we aren’t relegated I’ll be satisfied.

Yes good to see someone just come on talk football and give some perspective from other team. The finishing in second half was ruthless.

I think Leeds achieved above most people’s expectations last season, apart from maybe your own.
I’ve always been a massive fan of Bielsa, so it’s good to see him finally managing in the prem, even if it’s with you.

It’ll be interesting to see how expectations are dealt with this season by Leeds. Obviously you’ll want to kick on, but it’s not always that easy in the second season, especially if it’s a team that are more than the sum of their parts - which I think Leeds are - and there’s a drop due to some players not being able to maintain the level of form shown in the first season.

With regard to top six, it’ll be difficult but I’m not exactly well versed on your financial situation - particularly in regard to other clubs that are looking to break into that pack such as Villa, Everton and Arsenal().

Not sure Leeds fans have that great expectations this season. Think it’s another myth that we have lots of bravado. The two lads I go with both think we will struggle to stay up this season because of the lack of investment. Most fans on here feel we are looking at another mid table finish.
We have to be realistic. The top4 have pulled away again this close season because they’re the ones that can spend through covid. We are miles off this standard. It is what it is - The Premier league isn’t a great league, it’s become more like formula one every season. We have to treat these games as enjoyable regardless of result because we went 16 years missing them.

foota is all about bravado, hope, expectations as to why it is tribal passionate to the extreme.

there are at least 3 leagues within the pl, those that have those that have a little and those who have little and it shows

^^^^^

The top 4 would pull away from the rest even if
a biblical event happened. They are so much better
set up, structured, and financed. It's inevitable.

It's only our second season back.

We are a bottom half team. And that means we are
vying with the bottom 10 teams. We could repeat and
finish 9th. Or we could finish 12th, 13th, or 17th.
Or we could be in a dog fight to stay up.

My expectation is set against that fact. And we still
have to invest in two or three realistic players to make
sure we are able to do just that. And compete with the
other bottom half teams. And stay up.

The club know that. I hope.

* And it was game one of a long season.

Plus, we have a genius manager. We should be fine.
