Merson

I see Paul Merson is now getting in on the Kane issue. Saying if he leaves Spurs will finish in bottom half of the league.

This is a man who has spent a lot of his life looking through the bottom of a beer glass and is rubbish as a pundit.

Maybe he should focus on his old team and where they might finish, instead of trying to denigrate Spurs.

Very reasonable prediction by Merson, mainly because if they sell Kane now I can't see them getting the players they need in this window.

I could see Spurs finishing 12th or 13th if they sold Kane and about 8th or 9th if they keep him.

Tell me, are you used to people actually listening to your opinion.
Outside of your mum, I am guessing not.
Best stick to your "we take the easy route and buy everything" team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you clearly listened, didn't like what you read and reacted like a childish moron. Which in fairness does fit the profile of a great number of Spurs fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so are we allowed to assume that you are a violent thug that pushes people off trains due to the colour of their skin, supports the National front and makes hissing noises when you are at WHL?

Or can we assume that you are a replica shirt wearing pub bore that has never been to Stamford Bridge?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The level of prejudice and ignorance on display from this post is just yet another example of a moronic Spurs fan.

“ Well yes the financially doped and chequebook clubs are in the Prem agreed, but most of the league is very poor, lots of teams with just players that run about a lot, and are more of a nuisance than teams with real quality. Southampton, Watford, Norwich, Burnley, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Newcastle etc come to mind. Then you have the overhyped average clubs like Villa, Leeds and Wolves. Then you have teams like Arsenal, who are frankly a shadow of the side of Henry, Pires, Viera. Then you have the overhyped Leicester, who are lead by a 34 year old striker and their best defender is Johnny Evans.”

I wouldn’t mind knowing where Spurs fit in the above categories?

We’ve obviously got City and Chelsea as the so called financially doped clubs. United in the chequebook category. Don’t see how you can put LFC in that category. Plus didn’t Spurs just spend £70m on a player?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, we have spent £43m on Romero as part of a loan with an obligation to buy.

United, City and Chelsea compete at a financial level no other prem clubs currently can. One of those is earned the other two are lottery wins, despite whatever figures show them making the odd profit.

You then have Liverpool who are historically successful and will therefore have a certain pull. Then it’s Leicester who everyone thinks is some fairy tale that should be followed, which although true for the league win, is not true since as their wages to revenue is incredibly high - 84% in the 18/19 season.

Then there is Spurs and Arsenal. Both sides clearly going through a transition and laying down foundations for some sort of future. I’m biased but I feel much more comfortable with what we are doing than what Arsenal are.

The rest of the league might have one team that has a strong season and finished above those sides like West Ham last year, but it won’t be consistent and The only team I can see making a permanent step up is Everton due to their historical standing, financial means and Benítez - although they have bought carp again this window. The rest are just meh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a load of rubbish. Spurs have been laying down foundations for feckin eternity but they never get past the first brick being layer.

Striketeam

So which of Sandy’s categories do Spurs come under?

Financially doped, chequebook club, more of a nuisance but without real quality, overhyped & average or a shadow of their former successful sides (like Arsenal)?

We don’t, we have our own category of shoulda, woulda, coulda. We should of spent more when Poch had us close, depending on which version you believe we would have spent more but there was a disagreement between manager and scouts over certain players. Finally we could have achieved more.

Financially we are one of the best run in europe, lowest wage to revenue in the prem, multiple income streams - we just secured the Challenge cup at WHL for the next 2 years along with the Joshua figh, NFL, Guns n Roses etc. The stadium debt is very serviceable at about £40m a year. However, the frustration for the fans is it always feels like we’re holding back in the transfer market When an extra push could get us over the line.

Ted……….the season is 38 games, not 1.

If we win tomorrow, great. If we draw, that’s fine. If we lose then that is no disaster especially as we are in transition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh..but what the idiots on this thread will be saying when we lose!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you were saying Ted. Just on the way home from a very good performance from the team. Gritty and going forward quickly. 🤔😉

Just look who City left on the bench.......
Kevin de Bruyne, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus were introduced in the final 20 minutes, while England's Euro 2020 pair Kyle Walker and John Stones were unused substitutes, as were Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Bernardo Silva - a formidable array of talent.

You can only beat who they put out Ted, you were suggesting we would lose and the board would go into meltdown.
We looked much more of a TEAM than we did last season, also there seems to be more grit and fight in the side which City did not like one bit.
We were also missing Kane & N’Dombele and Lo Celso on bench with the new players too.
