Team for Thursday?

Europa Conference Qualifying Match First Leg.

I don't even know who we are playing.... but...

----------------------------------Gollini--------------------------

--Doherty-------------Rodon-----------Romero------------Sessegnon (think hes fit again)

-------------Winks------------Sissoko-----------------Lo Celso-------------------

----------------Scarlett----------Kane -----------Gil--------------

EDIT: apparantly Kane not travelled, so Scarlett central and Stevie B coming into the front 3 (needs some goals)

Glad Nuno has taken a complete second team, this competition should be treated as game time for the squad players to keep match fitness
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Will be very embarrassing though if they get knocked out in the qualifier though, because they did not take it seriously.

No Rodon?? Weird.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean we don't know the real ins and outs but the ndombele and rodon omissions completely are so weird indeed
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure Rodon has much of a future. He is clearly now 4th choice at best in the pecking order.

Good that lots of youngsters in squad tho
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely all those youngsters are not in the squad? May as well not bother.

That`s fine, and I myself put up a team that did not include any of Sunday`s starters. I think Nuno said none would start, but I would still expect a few on the bench as a back up. I doubt Nuno will play a team of kids. It will mostly be seasoned squad players to start I would assume.

I wouldn’t bat an eyelid if we got KO’d from the Conference League at the qualifiers. It’s the most Mickey Mouse comp that an English team could be involved in. We win it we get no kudos, we don’t win it we’re a laughing stock. It’s an massive long slog of travel and midweek fixtures for virtually no reward. For me, in this season of transition, we’d be better spending more time training and focusing on domestic football, this thing is just a hindrance.

It`s a good competition for squad players Ace, what other football will most of them get this side of Xmas. I never quite get why any supporter thinks any competition Spurs are in is not good. I already have my ticket for the return match. You cannot beat night games at WHL. I don`t really care about the standard of opposition. I just like seeing Spurs play. Supporters don`t get the chance to see Spurs train, so need as many matches as possible to watch the team.

Doesn`t really make a lot of difference Chronic. Travelling a couple of hours on a plane is the norm for the modern players. Blimey, they travel halfway around the world and back just to play in meaningless International Friendlies.

The modern players are well looked after, so doubt a trip to say Bulgaria is any different to them, than the average Joe that has to commute into London and back on a daily basis. Footballers have absolutely everything laid on a plate for them.

yeah but its not that they cant do the travel and play, its that its not ideal. if we have a NLD at the weekend for example, the last thing I would want is players travelling back from Russia and landing 3am on Friday, interrupting sleep patterns and general training regime...

we are talking about optomizing performance...

travelling itself can be pretty tiring without even playing a game.
