You thought that things would change when new season comes? Trust the process? What f*ing process? There isn't one improvement since Arteta took over manager seat. I think big clubs can't wait to play against us, big 6 teams probably prepare more for Burnley than for us. Everyone knows before game what outcome will be. We are so awful, everything needs to be changed. Manager, players and owners, everything from start to bottom. I can't believe I will say this, but I want us to lose every fecknig game till Arteta, Edu and Kroenke all go. I'm done with this s*it.

Do you honestly think the result would have been different if both club had their strongest team playing yesterday? Keep in mind we conceded both goals because of a tactical error by the manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I don't. I think Chelsea are stronger than us regardless. I think we may have put up much more of a fight, however.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We beat a similar Chelsea team (apart from Lukaku) managed by Lampard. Kinda shows what difference a good manager makes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then perhaps we would have beaten them with our spine on the pitch, you've convinced me.
Really hope we manage to get at least a right back in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
With a better manager I think the squad is good enough to finish in the European positions.

I don't disagree. Though coronavirus is going to make this season particularly screwy. You know I put a lot of faith in Odegaard, he should be available for city right? It's a shame Gabriel is still not available. This time last year he looked genuine WC potential.

The problem is, as Lampard showed that it doesn't matter how good your squad is on paper, a poor manager will scupper your efforts. Until we change manager you won't see the best of Odegaard or anyone else.

Honestly, whilst I do agree Arteta is not doing the best job, I think the gap between triumph and disaster is smaller than you realise. I still maintain Arteta's largest failings come down to his coaching staff.

Arteta's coaching setup is part of his management. You cannot separate the two which is why Arteta has preferred to get rid of Leno rather than Inaki Cana. Whenever we hire the next manager he will come with own coaching staff. So when people talk of Conte or Rodgers its implicit that their coaches come with them.
I think this the mistake made by KSE. They took Arteta from Man City setup without understanding that what makes them great was never Arteta individually but Pep and his coaching staff who have mostly followed him from Barca to Bayern to City. Arteta was just a part of that and looking at how we've looked for the past 2 years, not a very big part.

I think Arteta, individually, is genuinely an exceptional coach and showing himself as a good manager. You're right that you cannot fully separate a manager from their retinue, and I do wonder how much better he might be doing if he was able to develop one more organically. We have some members of this set up with truly atrocious CV's.

What has Arteta done to make you believe he is a genuinely exceptional coach?

Mainly the reviews from his City days, the comments from his peers, the genuine improvement he's managed to get from Pepe and Saka. He seems best with wingers.

Man City's U21 coach has been always credited for improving players which is why he took over from Arteta as Pep's no.2. Arteta was particularly praised for developing Sterling. But keep in mind Sterling was already a top player at Liverpool. So how much coaching did he require? Just like with Saka or ESR. How much work does it take improve players who are already exceptional talents? Keep in mind Emery spotted them and initially promoted them.

I look at players who do need developing, Saliba, Martinelli, Willock, Maitland-Niles, Nketiah, Nelson, Balogun. Arteta is trying to sell most of them or hardly plays them at all.
