I didn’t see the match today, but got the vibe off the match thread and a couple of other posts that we looked a bit more solid defensively.
I definitely felt we were last week v City too.
Both Dier and Sanchez are on my list of players who need moving on. I see more potential in Sanchez as he’s younger. I’d still sell either to be honest - preferably Dier.
I saw the highlights and he lost the ball going on a wander in midfield which should’ve cost us a goal.
Does anyone think either of these, or god forbid, both as a unit, will come good?
So will Sanchez and/or Dier come good?

Two absolutely shocking players. Sanchez doesn’t have a footballing brain and never seems to have any given situation under control. Dier’s body speed can’t keep up with his brain speed. It’s like he know what he wants to do but he does it three seconds too late.
These two players will cost us a truck load of points per the course of the season.

2 wins
2 cleansheets
Hanging on points instead of dropping them.
They've started ok.
There is a lot more to come from this team as Nuno has only just got hold of them.

Absolutely, astonishing how some of our supporters are still not happy, and feel they have to get on players backs. Fine if they are not performing, but both have done well in the opening two fixtures. Some supporters just have agendas against players.

Not for me....they'll always have those brain fart moments in them.

Name me a defender that doesn`t. Even the so called very best often make a simple mistake. Walker was the king of the brainfarts, but he was still Spurs best full back in all probability this century.

It was quite clear from last season that CB was a position that needed strengthening. It was quite clear that every game Sanchez and Dier performed in, you could lay your hat on them making an unforgiveable mistake in the very next game. As happened yesterday. It's also very clear that there are better defenders on this planet, that have less mistakes in them. They are average defenders and I'm glad we've looked to strengthen in that area. It will remain to be seen if Romero can do the job over here but putting all defenders on the same level in professional football because they all make the same mistakes is for the birds.

Not as a partnership but maybe will a better player alongside of them.

It looks like this will be the case. I'd like to get one more in though.

It won’t be any coincidence that our clean sheets and better displays from those two come from:
A) a settled back four
B) more solidarity in midfield (Skipp)
C) better fitness
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Love a consistent defence. I know the cvnt has barely featured but I worry about romero fitting in. Didn't realise he's had so many yellow card and is so rash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He didn't have any reds season. I don't mind defenders picking up a yellow here and there. As long as they don't get sent off I'm cool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the opponent scoring from resulting set pieces that's my worry

Didn't see yesterdays game but bit unfair to say we were hanging on in the city game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I kinda meant keeping the 3 points rather than letting it slip like we did many time last season (including at Wolves having taken an early lead), as opposed to desperately hanging on to the win.

always a mistake in them. Dier was sauntering out of defence dribbling men lost it and any other forward in the whole league apart from traore would have scored that. apart from maybe bergwijn who also is incapable of converting one on ones.
thats the problem. no matter how well they are playing, you just know that either one will make a huge error at any point.

I have been very happy the way both have started the season, two clean sheets in two tough matches says it all.
Yesterday Sanchez started off not to well, but that was more down to him having to cover for Tanganga who also started off very poorly. Sanchez then grew into the game, and put in some really timely interceptions.
Dier had a steady game, and OK lost possession once which nearly cost a goal, but name me a defender that is perfect every game. You won`t find one.
I think we all need to get off their backs, and get behind them and give them full support. Only the idiots will not.
Of the other CBs, Rodon is always injured and I am not sure he is any better, and Romero is completely untried in the Premier League, so he may or may not be a good CB. Only time will tell.
But as it stands Dier and Sanchez are in poll position, and until they absolutely mess up, just leave as is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely Romero has got to be a starting CB?
Otherwise why did Levy/Paratici buy him?
He must be in Paratici and Nuno's plans.
So I don't see Sanchez & Dier as locked in as CBs.
I would not say that Tanganga started off poorly.......I would say that Adama Traore will give any RB a torrid time. Just look at the guy...he must bench press 300llbs. And then his legs move like crazy. Lucky for us he can't shoot!
