Yesterday was the first time that I saw Romero play last night and, while I will admit that the opposition was nothing special, he showed some attributes that are really exciting.
Firstly his distribution and ability on the ball is at another level to any of our other players in that position and I anticipate him to be up there with anybody in the league. That pass to Kane in the first minute was brilliant and he kept showing that quality throughout the game.
Then you have to look at his aggression, physicality, strength and size. The player seems to have it all.
As soon as I saw him play he reminds me of Lucio with the way he plays, the old Brazilian Bayern and Inter Milan Centre back.
I'd also put in a special mention for Gill, but he already has an article written about him so I will leave the plaudits for that thread.

I thought Romero looked very good last night
Defending constantly on the front foot ….against better opponents he may get caught trying to win the ball stepping in but it was refreshing to see rather than watching our centre backs back off into the penalty area
Gil looks great too and also was impressed with Stevie B when he came on ….seems sharper and found an extra yard of pace and confidence must be coming back as he is showing nice touches and skill …..starting to think Traore is definitely not required !
All in all was a good run out last night

I'm the same Ace. Have SS and BT, so good that Groups are on BT. I'm moving up to Rugby soon, so may not be able to get down for so many evening games at WHL.

Yes, Gill looks like he could turn into a quality player, but I think that he will need to bulk up a bit. I can see him struggling in the Premier League initially, but then finding his feet and turning into a quality player.
I have no worries about Romero at all. I still think that his perfect partner would have been Alderwield so it is a pity that we could not have them 2 as our first choice CBs, but hopefully Dier can step up.

Yeah it would have been good to see him next to Toby for a season but you never know he may bring the best out of Dier or Sanchez (I prefer Sanchez)
Modric was a wirey fellow and although it took some time he more than coped with the prem physicality and Gil looks about the same build ….I’m not worried about his size
Think we may see him Sunday from the bench with Romero starting

Just fancied a change mate, moved about a fair bit, mostly in London though, missus has finally packed in work, and property prices are so ridiculously high in London, I was looking for a property that I had no work to do on it, not to far from London, close to mainline railway and a decent town centre. Looked all around from Eastbourne, Portsmouth, Swindon side, Lincolnshire etc, and came up with a decent property in Rugby for half the price I have flogged my place in London for.

Modric was already battle hardened from playing in the Croatian leagues but I take your point that a player who works hard and is committed can toughen up and adapt to the PL.
