But the transfer fee was peanuts, and a proper fee ameliorated over two years would probably only come to the wages. It's actually a good deal for United.

As an aside, when the announcement was made, you couldn't get onto United's website, as the increased traffic literally crashed it. This is big commercially.

In signings gone by, it's often the other way around. Some players who had just signed for United would experience an influx increase of followers on their social media accounts.

The fact that Ronaldo who has the biggest following in the footballing world, and has managed to throw the limelight back onto United shows the massive commercial appeal that both parties still have. Incredible.
