Just back from WHL, and what was

a pretty average game, but football is a results business, and Spurs once again come away with three points and a clean sheet. Another decent atmosphere, not as loud as the City game, but supporters fully behind the team. Oh how the doomsters in the media, and even some of our own supporters must be hating Spurs being 100 per cent, top of the table and no goals conceeded.

Spurs looked very solid today, without being spectacular, no real creativity in midfield, but that aside the team all look to be working their socks off. Never really looked like conceeding other than from a set piece. PEH was superb today, and Sanchez had another excellent game. Skipp gave 100 per cent for 90 minutes and him and PEH are certainly doing their job superbly, and stopping the opposition just walking through the midfield, and getting straight at the back four.

Harry didn`t have a great game, neither did Bergwin, and I would prefer Moura or Gil to start over him, but hey ho I am not the manager, so whoever Nuno starts with, I will be fine with that.

I think there will be plenty of games like today, as I think the Prem is low on real quality. Lots of hyped up players and teams, but so many of the players and teams in the Prem just run around for 90 minutes, without any real quality. Spurs just need to match most, and they will win plenty.

Anyway decent start to the season, and no complaints from me.

COYS

PS Mo Sissoko got a standing ovation from the Spurs fans.

Although by all accounts he’s putting himself about a bit more, I sort of want Dele sold.
With him at Spurs, it’s all on the basis of hoping he gets back to what he was like 3 years ago. I was a huge fan but I just don’t think he provides enough or has got any better. It just seems a safe option to just put him in the team in a 3 and hope he does something.

I think at the moment he is doing his bit, without it being as good as he was four seasons back. As the season evolves, so with the team I suspect. I would be surprised if Bryan Gil is not integrated into the team at some point.

You clearly just say this sort of thing to wind people up. Go on, find me one Spurs fan who is hating Spurs being top of the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There were plenty on this board absolutely slating the team just two weeks ago. Of course I doubt they are slating the team now they are top.

Sanchez and Dier were public enemies Number One.

Fickle fans...that's life I guess. Nuno haters a few weeks ago. Still very early but what a difference coaching makes. I've fully supported Nuno from the beginning, don't let media confuse fans or create negativity before it happens

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have always been on the opinion that Spurs were not as bad as they were being made to be OK, they may not be playing scintillating football, but far too many were quick to get on the defence being totally useless, when they just needed organising a bit, and you needed some shield in front of them. PEH and Skipp are providing the shield now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't mind signing one more quality CM. My fear is injury to PEH and we left with Skipp and Lo Celso as a shield for the defence
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eriksen has never been replaced. Lo Celso and Ndombele were supposed to be the replacements, but both have been huge let downs.

Over 80m and i rated them both. I think Ndombele could have proved his value in the cup final but we will never know.

I thought today he was good, kept the ball well, some nice touches and link up play. He is playing a different role (at the moment) to years ago, so his game will not be the same. Dele is not a player we should be looking to sell at all, as well as being a good player, he is also versatile and able to play different positions.

I just don’t think he does enough.
We have Dele, Lo Celso and NDombele. One of them needs to come good and start providing some creativity to help break down defensive teams.

Look at that chance he missed today btw. That was a critical time in the game and could’ve saved us a nervy finish.

He won and converted the penalty at Wolves.

What we’re seeing from Dele at the moment is a lot more work rate. I would be reluctant to sell him now as he is busting a gut and contributing and it’s not impossible he finds his form with this effort

Out of Lo Celso, Ndombele and Dele, the player we should be keeping first is Dele, the other two have contributed next to nothing, have had injury problems and in the case of Ndombele, apparently does not want to play

Was at the game as well. Not the best of games but a win is a win as Sandy mentioned. Watford threatened early 1st half but second half don’t think LLoris had a proper save to make.

My main takeaways were we desperately need a right back. Tanganga doing a job but clearly not his preferred role and offers little going forward. We need someone that can be more attacking and incisive. Technically, he is just lacking a little and we definitely need better.
Would rather Aurier keep that spot if we can’t shift him.

We are still easily manipulated by a little bit of skill and teams can at times play through us easily. Frustrating to watch.Happened a bit early doors today and with a little more composure with their final ball Watford could have scored. We gained the upper hand as the game went on but we need to be much better off the ball.

The midfield today was lacking any creativity. Just had no one there to receive the ball and look for those key passes and link up play. Personally feel if we are not utilising Ndombele this season then think goals could be hard to come by particularly against the low block teams like Watford did today. Hojbjerg and Skipp offer no creatively and Dele just doesn’t do it enough over 90 minutes and imo not good enough anyway.
Bergwijn flatters to deceive more than not. So for me creativity overall is a concern.

Overall , our fluidity in play some way off and hoping that will improve as Nuno shapes his squad but some work still needed to get near the better teams.

I don’t actually think we could sell Dele.
There was zero interest when he was out of favour under Mourinho - this tells us something too.

I hope he comes good but I’ve got a feeling he will mostly flatter to deceive.
Was a massive fan but have to be honest about where he is now compared to 5 years ago

Dele stood out when when we had a a really good team with Dembele pulling the strings with great supporting acts. Dele will not pull an ok team kicking and screaming to new heights.

The top teams would have got rid by now but am afraid we are stuck with him.
Moreover the game has moved on from Pochs days and the new and upcoming British youngsters like Mount, Bellingham, Sancho etc are more standout with their team integration and play.
