Recruitment

I’d like to question the suggestion that Ole has done a brilliant job of rebuilding the squad.

1. Time. Given time, any manager would make a number of changes. This is Oles 3rd summer.

2. Funds. Under Ole, the club has spent in excess of £400m. It would be difficult to spend that amount and NOT have improved the squad.

3. Responsibility. Whilst Ole undoubtedly has a say, and the option to decline any potential signing, there are many others involved in the recruitment process at the club.

4. Successes. How many of the signings made under Ole have been unquestionable successes? I make it 2, maybe 3. Admittedly it is too soon to judge 3 or 4 of the signings, but Telles, James, VDB, even AWB are looking poor additions.

If you can't see the difference in how we have operated in the window this summer compared to previous ones, and don't have the brain capacity to understand why deals took a bit to complete after the initial agreement was made, what's the point?

We did act quickly in comparison to the previous summers. There was a period of time between us reaching agreements for Sancho and Varane, but that was down to euro 20, holidays, isolation and quarantine. Not because we acted slowly.

But we couldn't very well pull him out of the swqud to finalise it. Varane was agreed, but he had to quarantine and isolate before we could finalise it.

I know what you're op says. But you have also said that you disagree that we've got our deals done quickly this summer. The club has acted quickly this summer, albeit the Sancho and Varane deals took time to complete due to circumstances outside of our control.

You yourself did a few weeks ago when you questioned which of Ole's signings had been a success. Even mocking another poster for suggesting VDB might have been a club signing. But hey ho, you've got another angle to attack Ole, so are happy to change tack
