Thought we all agreed?

My understanding was all PL teams agreed that they were not allowing any players who would be traveling to red list countries to go on international duty.

I just saw Uruguay cancelled Cavanis call up but also Tottenham pair Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero are set to travel home to Argentina - a country on the red list - meaning they will miss three Spurs games.

Aston Villa have also said their two Argentina internationals, goalkeeper Emi Martinez and midfielder Emi Buendia, will travel to South America for the first two qualifiers, but will miss the third against Bolivia. This means they will only be unavailable for one club game, against Chelsea on 11 September.

Wtf is this?

The clubs can't hold players back against their will. Both players and clubs have to agree to them staying behind.

It's just a personal opinion, but I wouldn't even have made them have to decide.

That might have more due to the lack of games threat due to a certain Ronnie joining

Good to see the clubs putting their foot down.

Had Cavani gone, hed have missed another 3 games for us. Thats 5 games, before his season with us has properly started.

Even if we hadn't bought Ronaldo we should have been made to suck it up. Guy wants to play for his country.

Couldn't he have just faked an injury like Giggs used to do?

That's what they used to speculate

Was the agreement not that the clubs could hold them back? I don't think anyone can be forced into anything but granting the clubs the right to do so would still have rested on the players agreeing.

That was my assumption based on reading very little into it.
