Deadline Day today, I don't suppose much will transpire today, if anything! but if anybody does hear a whisper of anything, please shout up.
The only thing that I think may happen, is, Marshall leaving to enable us another incoming (Hopefully)
Deadline Day!

As it stands we cannot sign any free agents. We are still under embargo. Maybe it shows bravery on Morris's part to call the EFL's bluff but we still have not the faintest clue what is going on.
Robson-Kanu would be a great signing and there are plenty out there IF Rooney is allowed to sign them. Yes, to some extent he is scraping the bottom of the barrel for players that nobody else wants but with the state of the world there actually are bargains to be had. Many of us thought Morrison was not to be touched with a bargepole but so far, so more than just good. Some were sceptical of Davies and Jagielka but both look inspired signings under the weird circumstances we are in.
At the start of the season I thought we were nailed on for relegation. Now I think we have a chance of survival but that chance is slim unless one or two more could be recruited. Robson-Kanu and Roberts, say.
It is getting increasingly hard not to be very impressed by Rooney.

Some really interesting comments on this post. As I look back I seem to remember Cloughie getting us promoted with 16 players. Thankfully we seemed to be able to steer clear of injuries that season though and again as I remember we added Frank Wignall in January. So, in theory it's not all doom and gloom. Like others I'm increasingly impressed with Wayne Rooney as Manager. Seems to know where he wants to go, has loyalty and integrity too.
The worst thing about all this is not being told what's going on. Hopefully it will be resolved in the not too distant future and we can once again move forward....

I'm a bit hazy on detail but I understand Reading are able to buy premier league players yet are still accused of similar financial shenanigans to ours??
I will stand corrected

Reading are under an embargo that allows them to sign loanees or free agent with a cap on salary. I think their cap allows a much higher wage to the player than that imposed on Derby though. I don't know if the same limit on numbers in the squad applies.
P&S rules are that clubs can't make a loss of greater than 39 million pounds over a 3-year period. Reading made a loss of 93 million, yes 93 million, with 42 million in just one season, 2019-2020.
So the double standards being applied by the EFL are astonishing. Maybe one of the reasons for this all dragging on is because Derby's lawyers are threatening legal action. it all seems incredibly perverse and is providing Derby's business competitors with an unfair advantage.

Just had a look at our fixtures for September. Those two lost points vs Forest suddenly feel a little bit more important.
Birmingham City (a),
West Bromwich Albion (a),
Stoke City (h),
Sheffield United (a)
Reading (h)
Other than Reading I'm not sure who we'll be getting points off. Not Bowyer's biggest fan but he certainly did get Birmingham playing to their strengths and moved them well clear of relegation worry last season. Their recruitment has been sound (given their circumstances over the last 3-4 years) and I've got them as dark horses for the last play off slot this season
Think the game against them isn't going to be easy at all for us.
To follow that bruising encounter with a trip away to WBA is definitely not what a patched up side would want. They're on form and no surprise one of the favourites to go up. How has their manager got them playing? Can't be similar to the Barnsley style, doubt the fans would accept that?
Stoke - possibly where our next point or points come from depending on what Stoke team we face?
Sheff Utd - Had a poor start, but given their signing of one of my favourites - Conor Hourihane, he'll certainly have an impact on that game. Why o' why did we not look to him when Bryson started to fade?
Reading - Similar situation to us, but not, Derby fans on the social media site Twitter had a meltdown when it was announced Danny Doesn't Drinkwater (at nightclubs and gets into fights) signed for them. Personally I couldn't care if they have but Vidal's response above hits the nail on the head regarding how EFL are treating the overall issue on FFP.
Back to match predictions, I see this as a possible winnable game, meaning we'll be looking at a maximum of 4-6 points realistically from 15.
Would you agree with that given our current squad?
Realistically, would you expect more points from these games?
September may change fans perception of the team and Rooney, (majority on here are patient and can see what an excellent job he's doing with both arms and legs tied). My worry is fans starting to turn due to a run of bad results in Sept.

Hi, Terry and are you still basking? If so I hope it's a bit cooler than here as last Saturday it felt like 100 degrees with all the humidity!
I have been trying to balance my frustration at the lack of information against the probable reasons why Mel has been keeping quiet:- re a take-over, well we all know about confidentiality clauses by now and dropping hints in the past led to some finger burning and re the EFL battle, I'm assuming there must be some stipulation that there should be no comment by either party pending resolution.
Does that excuse the deafening silence from our owner? Maybe but surely he should have the decency at least to come out in public and say in effect: "I'm really sorry all you Derby fans. I know you are desperate for information but at the moment my hands are tied and until we reach a resolution with the EFL I am not allowed to say anything specific. I know that all this silence leads to fans speculating, accusing, worrying etc etc but I can assure you that I will be keeping the club afloat pending a take-over and that as soon as matters have been settled with the EFL I will make an appropriate announcement."
What's so difficult about that Mel? Or are you not in fact willing to commit to keeping the club afloat? You see - more speculation!

Yes Desi, I agree with your likely points total tho it might just be stretched to eight and I sincerely hope fans do not turn. As I've said before we need a siege mentality from fans - us agin the world - that should get through to and lift the players.

Hi Chicago. Yes, still in Spain...here til mid September. Its been hot with high humidity (80%) but equally the sun has been hot too. That said its not as hot as mid Spain where the temp has been mid 40's. Too hot !
I agree about Mel. I've had a lot of time for him in the past. He's put his money where his mouth is - without success...but that's no reason now - as you said to keep all the fans in the dark. Surely he can say "something" without giving too much away. Really disppointed in him now.
