Come and join us in League One. It's not so bad. Win a few games. Our owner has finally started to listen to the fans. The feel good factor is starting to return. Fresh start etc

Hi, Sloppy,

You a Wed fan? Glad you are having fun but maybe you are not under an embargo? Also you now seem to have a responsive owner. We do not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a Wednesday fan Chicago. I did pop on to the Derby board from time to time and was made to feel very welcome. The League One boards aren't very active with only really Bolton and Doncaster having any sort of presence.

We were placed under an embargo at one point last season so I don't envy you guys at all. Our owner is showing some signs of responsiveness but it's early days. He certainly hasn't covered himself in glory the last few years. Sounds like a difficult situation at Derby. Is it as simple as things won't get better until you get a new owner but that's unlikely with the club in its current situation?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, Sloppy, that's really how it seems to be. You would think our owner would be doing all possible to make his club saleable but allowing debts to accrue (HMRC and transfer fee instalments to name but two types of debt) is not an ideal way to go about it. It's not as though he is personally in financial difficulty. The real worry is that there remains the possibility of a points deduction which will hinder a sale still further.

Good luck to you this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really hope things get better for you soon. Always thought of Derby as a proper football club. Best wishes

Thanks. There's no doubt that Wed should not be in League 1.

Wednesday look as though they have bottomed out and can start the march back up again. At the moment I don't have any confidence that if were to go down this season that we would be in a similar position. There is nothing to suggest that we wouldn't just take our problems down with us.

I think the whole thing is an absolute farce and I really don't understand what Mel is playing at. I could understand it if he was skint - but he's not.....He says he wants to sell the club - but that's not going to happen with all the sh*t hanging over us. Just terrible management of the situation. Equally the EFL are just as bad. We are ATM in Destination F'd....

rumour I'm hearing (from an admittedly unreliable source) is that we agreed some unfavorable 'payment after number of games' clause when signing somebody and that the clause didn't state those games had to be for us, just 'professional' career games and even if we no longer have that player, so payments are expected when they play games for their new club.

source has been well off the Mark many times before, so would take it with a pinch of salt.

They have missed a payment to Arsenal for Beliek in the last few weeks

yeah, sounds more likely. maybe trying to get out of it because he's spent more of his time injured.

If we manage to stay up we could be playing Arsenal next season.

I've got an a friend who supports Arsenal...He has got covid and is isolating, his wife who was already very ill is in hospital with covid and doesn't sound too good....but what really $isses him off is Spurs are top of the Prem.

Re VC's comment it just goes to show that you really do have to get your priorities right!
