Ronaldo isolation

Government have rejected United’s request for Ronaldo to be exempt from having to isolate so he will be isolating for 5 days.

He’s been released by Portugal yesterday so assume he’ll be flying to Manchester today meaning he’ll be isolating until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Do we think he plays against Newcastle?

Is Ronaldo not vaccinated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would be my guess. He doesn't drink, doesn't have any tattoos etc. So I'd guess he might not be comfortable with getting vaccinated either, in terms of putting things in his body (quit sniggering in the front row).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s actually double vaxxed, which makes this thing even more ridiculous
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Being double vaxxed isn’t the issue as that is fine to protect the person who is. But a double vaxxed person can still carry and transmit the disease.

That is my understanding of it anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but, nobody can force somebody to self isolate aside from the law, which stipulates that you don't need to self isolate if you are returning from an Amber List country as a vaccinated individual.

You need a Day 2 test, but that's it.

Total crap that he's being forced to isolate. Facking ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That rule only applies to those vaccinated in the UK doesn't it, or British citizens?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This applies if you’re fully vaccinated under either:

the UK vaccination programme
the UK vaccine programme overseas
an approved vaccination programme in Europe or the USA - not all are recognised in England

Italy/Portugal not on there then I guess.

Oh no, Portugal is an EU country so it's covered. Ridiculous.

So is it the fact he didn't originally leave the UK to go to Portugal before coming to the UK?

Can't see the difference otherwise between him and Bruno Fernandes, for example?

I suppose Ronaldo has to isolate because he's not yet in the United 'bubble'. That's how Bruno can come back, for example, with no restrictions.

He did have Coronavirus but that was last October. I have seen some stories dated this month though that says he has Covid but when you click on them it's from last year.

Who is enforcing it is the question to be asked as it would be illegal by law if you are correct.

However, after United saw their request for an elite sportsman exemption rejected by the government Ronaldo will have to isolate like any other person flying from Portugal to the UK.

Does this mean Bruno will likely miss the Newcastle game?

He better start as I played my wildcard to get him in my team as captain.

Portugal is amber. From a government stand point he doesn't have to isolate, unless in fact he is not fully vaxed.

I arrived today from Spain where I love and all I had to do was a day 2 PCR. But I have a EU vaccine certificate.

"I arrived today from Spain where I love "

That's a long way to go for a bit of nookie

I’m currently in the UK from my home in Spain. Double-jabbed by IB Salud, not NHS. Didn’t need to quarantine as I have the EU COVID passport.

Presume Ronnie does too?
