So now that the dust has settled

on another week of football, where are we at with Spurs?

This time last week Spurs were proudly sitting top of the table, a fully fit squad, and raring to go. A week on, and it has to be just about the most Spursy week ever, eight players missing through injuries, isolation and suspension, including four CBs. You really could not make it up. This is the roll call of players that were all available this time last week.

Dier (injured)
Bergwin (injured)
Son (injured)
Romero (isolating)
Sanchez (isolating)
Lo Celso (isolating)
Tanganga (suspended)
Sessignon (injured)

It could only happen to Spurs, to lose so may players over such a short period. So what are we left with with Rennes and Chelsea on the horizon. Our 5th choice CB Rodon, who I really don`t rate anyway, will more than likely have to play both games. Tanganga and Dier will both miss the Chelsea game, and I suspect as both Romero and Sanchez will only be arriving back in the country next Friday, neither will be available for Chelsea. So will probably have to go into the Chelsea game with a partnership of Rodon and Davies as CBs. FFS.

I think we can safely say the Rennes game midweek will be a loss, Spurs will be going into this game probably with a back four of Doherty, Rodon, Tanganga and Davies, with a midfield that includes Winks. When was the last time a team with either Winks or Davies in it won a match? Throw in lots of youngsters, cannot risk any first teamers now, because there are already so many missing. I am not even going to speculate on the teams for the two games, Nuno will have huge problems trying to put a defence together for the Chelsea match. The knock on effect of the International break, is going to go on well into next weekend for Spurs.

Having said all that I notice it did not take long for the usual suspects to jump on the manager and the team. I think they have waiting since the start of the season to get all their negative thoughts about Spurs onto the site. Very, very predictable that the first loss, even though there were massive mitigating circumstances that they would all come out of their cubby holes. If you cannot support Spurs through the bad times, don`t support them through the good times is my motto. I really could not believe some already giving the new full back a hard time on his debut. Give him a break FFS. His first game, and already having a pop at him.

On another note, Winks and Davies are two absolute liabilities, and without all the injuries and Covid isolations neither would not be anywhere near the first XI, but it is what it is at the moment, and both will have to start midweek in all probability.

Kane is being run into the ground by Southgate, and without Son by his side looks a shadow of his former self. So seems to be able to play without Kane, but Kane does not seem to be able to play without Son.

Midfield I have always maintained is the real weak link in the side, not the defence, not the attack. Eriksen has never been replaced, and you have to absolute waste of spaces in Ndombele and Lo Celso, who were supposed to be the creative midfielders, but both have been so underwhelming, one cannot be bothered to get off his arris, and the other one is either always injured or prefers to play for Argentina. Both need moving on before next season starts.

Anyway we go again midweek, just have to hope the injuries clear up double quick.

COYS

PS Oh and the next International Break is in a little over three weeks. Spurs players can go straight from isolating in Croatia to South America.

Can you explain the difference between you slagging off your own players and those you deem “the usual suspects” doing the same thing?

If we ever want to win anything then Daniel Levy needs to be proactive on the international issue. He should be forcing all Spurs players to retire from international football immediately.

Anyone who refuses should have their contract terminated by the club. The way we get shafted by the international breaks is just not on, and we need to do something serious about it.

LOL he has only played a couple of games for Spurs, and about a dozen games for England over the past few months.

Kane isn’t being run into the ground

He is playing like a bloke who didn’t get his move and desperately doesn’t want to be here

Quite a few of us predicted this and wanted Kane sold the moment it was obvious he wanted out

Are you going to address my initial question, Sandy?

Feck him, he is on a long contract. You don`t just keep giving in to players because they throw their toys out of the pram. Modern supporters and players seem to be made out of the same mould. Want everything now.

He was happy to sign a long contract on good money, so he has to be made to see it out.

I never slagoff my own players, big difference. I have had a pop at the odd player, whom I do not think is suitable to play for Spurs, but that is completetly different to slagging of players 24/7 even when they play well.

It is called supporting your team through thick and thin. Although as a Man U supporter I doubt you would know that. 99 per cent of your support are glory hunters.

So we want them available so they should retire, but if they don't retire we should make them permanently unavailable (at a huge cost to us)?

Cool 👍
