So a friend of mine won hospitality tickets to forest v cardiff yesterday which meant i got to see Garner in action.
first and foremost the hospitality shown was top notch, from the slow roast pork dinner with chocolate brownie dessert to me winning the heads/tails quiz and walking away with forest 3rd shirt and bits inbetween.
as for garner himself he won the forest man of the match award, but i think that was more to do with how bad forest performed than him individually... he just made less mistakes than anyone else.
gave the ball away quite a lot, set pieces werent great and the game kind of passed him by.
isnt anywhere near ready for the utd first team based on what i saw yesterday and tbh i dont think he will make it at the club long term.
thats not to say he sisnt a decent player and i think he will end up forging a career at somewhere like watford/palace

From what I heard that he was doing well at Forest last year, also we gave him a new contract, I'd hope he would be at least an option for a Carrick-like No6 in the next few years. I only see highlights of him last season though

I suspect he will do well under a more progressive manager which he will likely get in the coming weeks.
Forest fans love him though.

It's hard for a good player to excel in a terrible team. Passes will go astray if the players around him are under the cosh.

Sending promising Academy players out on loan is a fine line gamble for managers like Ole, Klop, Tuchel etc
You have to balance the impact of them getting regular games for smaller clubs down the leagues to the experience they might receive not getting so many gametime chances, but been in the background and training at facilities such as Carrington and rubbing shoulders on a daily basis with first team players and even the even likes of Ronaldo and Cavani etc.

I am 100% confident in Garner's technical ability
but a good #6 also need to have the mental/tactical side. I am hoping this will come with experience. I am usually strongly against our young prospect bein loaned to struggling teams but in Garner's case I think this is exactly what he needs. He will face a lot of challenges and hopefully this we toughen him up mentally

I saw the OP title and assumed Dunc had moved up from the Mikey Mouse watch.
