Red Flags and Concerns

I refrained from making an article over the weekend, as I was absolutely seething after Saturday's display.

Today hopefully I can give a more measured view. Bottom line is, after sleeping on it, I am still furious, confused, and concerned by what I genuinely think is our single worst display of recent times. Yes, that includes any of the total dross we served up under mourinho.

Concerns are as follows:

1. Nuno's team selection, even given the ridiculous loss of son, bergwijn, sanchez, romero and lo celso, was an absolute joke. He played a midfield 3 of Alli PEH and Skipp in the last games, and had all three available.. but has brought in Harry Winks of all people (any manager starting winks in a prem game unnecessarily is an immediate red flag). 3 DMs, at palace.. is a joke. The move was clearly keep the system, and Gil in for Son... Lucas in for Stevie B.

2. Having totally facked up the line up, and then been totally outplayed AND having now lost Dier through to injury (Lloris totally to blame for this), then how on earth has he done nothing to change it at HT? I literally couldnt believe it. no system change, no personnel change. Utterly ridiculous.

3. Then no attacking switch at 1-0 down? or at 2-0 down? 2 shots all game? no Gil? no Ndombele? no introduction of any player with a forward thinking bone in their body???? no in game management at all. stinks of the mourinho era.

4. As soon as the game became a fight, which was after the tanganga zaha incident, you knew we would lose, because we are STILL a bunch of spineless soft caaants when you really turn the screw. red card and dumb penalty concession, followed by allowing a player on debut to come on and score straight away, after having lost your senior CB through injury due to needless stupidity is about the most spursy scenario possible,.

5. losing 3-0 to palace can happen... these results happen from time to time... chelsea got smashed by WB last season, villa put 7 past liverpool.. these things happen sometimes... but to just surrender, roll over, and give the opposition a dr tottenham style leg up when we are top of the league and they havent got a win, is absurd. Vieira in charge too, lack of passion, mentality, everything required.

I cannot remember the last time I have been more concerned by a performance than I was on Saturday. Nuno needs to have a long long hard look at himself, and start making sensible decisions, or he wont last very long at all. I'm behind him and want him to do well, but he needs to meet us half way and start managing with some common sense and an intent to attack. that performance took away any momentum, and probably any supporter goodwill all in one two hour shambles. A capitulation against chelsea next week, followed by a loss in the NLD and he will already be under huge pressure.

Also, the club has allowed itself to be facked over by the international break, which has totally scuppered the preparation for the game. At what point will this club actually start acting like a big club and put its own interests first? We have allowed crucial players to be stuck in quarantine and miss crucial training and matches.

sort it out Tottenham. its not difficult. its a very simple basic game. to win a game you need to score a goal. to score a goal you need to shoot. to shoot you need to attack. to attack you need to be able to have and keep the ball. to have and keep the ball you need to play players who have this ability and are progressive and forward thinking. so play them.

ABC, 123, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Arent the S. Americans all missing the European game due to self isolation?

I always hated player haters but I have to admit I am considering sending Winks a polite but empassioned note asking him to GTFO.

He's out there rejecting moves to stay with us. Enough already.

When the manager Levy finally got was about the tenth he tried.....you know pretty much what's going to happen.

The question is....are the wheels going to come off now for Nuno.......and when will Levy be looking for number eleven!

We have scored 3 goals in 4 games and not looked like scoring many in any game. The clean sheets are a positive, but the lack of creativity is a huge worry. Hopefully Nuno is building from the back, sort out the defence and then look to improve forward play.

One thing is for sure, any more performances and team selections like against Palace and the fans will be on Nuno`s back, even though the biggest problem we have is Levy and ENIC.

It MUST BE (he says hopefully) that our more creative players have not been available with NDombele not ready and GLC delayed back to pre-season and now self isolating.

I keep thinking Winks can do a job but he cant control a midfield or our tempo.

Skipp is PEH light. A squad player IMO.

Dele cannot be expected to make us tick in the middle of the park because thas not really his game and he cannot do it alone. All our other attackers are more direct and pacey rather than visionary and guile.

We have to rememeber that we are awork in progress. We were never going to totally revamp teh squad in one go. We have Sarr coming next season. Very strongly linked with Kessie who is free next summer (may be a cheap January deal to be done) and were very much in the market for another quality striker.

This is more the vision of Paratici than Nuno/Levy and is not a quick fix.

Before you all lose your rag that I'm a Gooner - hear me out.

From an outside perspective it feels like this is an overreaction to the first loss of the season. New Managers with their backroom staff obviously require time to implement their ideas and tactics so it is unfair to judge him so quickly.

Not sure if he's the right fella for you lot to challenge top 4 but what is clear is that he is thoroughly decent bloke who you'd hope the Team will rally around and actually want to play for. You get the feeling that nuno won't be ostracising anyone like Jose did with dele, rose and others so at least your Team unity and morale should be better than last season.

Little steps but give the geezer a chance - at least until Xmas before writing him off.

i think if this wasnt directly after Jose he would be cut a lot more slack.

i at least like the guy and the age of our squad is better, defence looks more assured.

feck knows how we are gonna score more than 1 a game tho

I'd agree but the style has been concerning. It seems like nothing changed expect the manager is not a

But time needs to be given and we have not had all the players available to us so hopefully the more attack minded ones will come in and make a difference.
