Jimmy Greaves

A true great, has died.
I saw him live many times and he was a wonderful player.
So neat and tidy, he made it seem easy.
RIP Jimmy

Too young to have seen him play live, but have seen enough videos etc to know he was a great goalscorer.
My father said he was one of the best in front of goal and would have put him on a par with the Lawman in that respect.

Couldn't resist posting this clip from 1989 (also on Spurs article), Greavsie says the boat race is a 'strange sport'. Enjoy.

He was more like Fowler than Dennis. It all seemed natural

He truly was. I hope in death he gets the recognition he deserves as one of the all time greats because in life he never did for whatever reason sadly.

Greaves was my hero before Best, he would pass the ball into the net and never shot until he could see the whites of the keepers eyes. Saw him at OT in 62/63 season a Cliff Jones far post header decided it.
Before KO Greaves & Blanchflower paraded the cup around the ground, everyone to a man applauded them as they showed off the trophy.
Couldn’t see that happening in today’s game somehow.

Sniffed a load of coke?

Obviously as its Spurs/Chelsea today, by a massive coincidence, there will be a bid deal made before that game... but as Greavsie was an Hammer too, no doubt the game at West Ham today will have a tribute.

Posted the same before, and i make no apologies for posting it again.

Jimmy Greaves was EXACTLY the type of player United currently need - without the off-field excesses of course.

A true goal scoring centre forward/striker.

he was already a legend to me throughout my childhood in the 60s
