Derby County 1 - 0 Reading

DERBY COUNTY v READING.................................................................................. Sky Bet Championship Game 10

1945 PRIDE PARK Wednesday 29th September 2021

Still 9 points from 'safety', a kind of fatalistic acceptance has settled around the club. Nervously waiting for some kind of final closure, I am sort of cautiously optimistic but as Jack Reacher says "Hope for the best but prepare for the worst"

After the impressive display at Bramall Lane, where incidently the Derby fans were immense in the vocal support - a case earnestly supported by Blades fans on my walk back to the car who were very effusive in their praise of us. Oh, and for the main, they weren't bothered by the chants about Billy Sharp - not that I sang any because I had a sore throat. Still, it was wrong.

One moment of madness by Curtis and a sending off of Roos still isn't enough to turn the Faithful but again it was a game of 'hold on', TL's attempt at the end, Jag's header gainst the bar - a game or several games this season of 'What ifs?'

Loyalty abounds - yet again as there is a concerted effort to bump the attendance for Wednesday's game. Signs are good and maybe the South Stand will keep singing for the duration.

I know that Roos won't be playing but will R Wayne trust Marshall or Alsop in goal. Is Shinnie banned after too many s or is he just one or away from the naughty step? R wayne has said there will be changes due to niggly injuries, so there may be a couple of surprises.

This is 1945 BST kick off for ex-pats with time differences

Team news (which I may struggle with as I will be in a car park):-

Lawrence was busy getting booked for kicking the ball away 10 yards after Buchanan's foul. Ludicrously over-fussy referring..

In a perverse way all of this mess might be the making of this team. If we don’t go bust and somehow stay up, it could be a great platform to build on. I don’t think that the way they are playing and their togetherness at the moment, that the12 point deduction will relegate us. I’m more positive about this team than I have been for years. Seems to be a strong ‘fight their way out of the trench’ mentality at present. UTR!!

I see the FA are now demanding a slice of our ever diminishing cake! What, do they think we're made of money?

A real question now - I watch the games on Rams TV and while the picture quality for away games is very good the home games are really poor for some reason. Could this be something to do with living too far down the road or do you folk who watch in UK have the same problem? (I must say that it looked like a penalty to me but it was not that clear from the broadcast.)

It's funny that, for me, the men of the match were Allsop and Fozzie as Reading did not pose much of a threat in spite of their clever approach play. I agree with Vidal that Swift was excellent. No-one seemed able to take the ball off him; also that Strett's only "weakness" was a lack of strength when battling for 50-50 balls down the sides. But I'm sure that will improve with experience.

If we somehow manage to avoid a further deduction and injuries then I think we have a great chance of beating the drop.

PS The gate was a bit disappointing or was that down to ticketing difficulties and/or traffic problems?

Morning Chicago. We watch all the games on Ramsplayer now. We spend 6 months here and 6 months in Spain and it's a good way to watch. Not particularly noticed any difference between the quality of the home and away game picture quality though. The only problem we get is that it may occasionally start buffering and the only remedy is to log out and log in again - which is irritating as you lose continuity in the match. Maybe worth you contacting their technical team...I have in the past when I've had problems and theyre usually pretty responsive, Cheers,

Terry,
DCFC (in administration), can only afford a dial-up service now.

Thanks Terry and I guess you are back in UK now?
I assumed that the filming equipment used was different for away games but you've killed that idea. I used to get buffering problems (a real pain) but not any more. It's just an annoying lack of picture clarity but I must say it's great to be able to watch the games in full and live.
Tell me to mind my own business if you will but are you retired or does your work take you to Spain for 6 months a year? Whatever, I imagine the income tax ramifications (residence, double taxation etc) must be numbing. It took several years for me to get my tax sorted out between UK and USA but now I just pay tax over here. But the forms here are incredible. Each annual return when completed is like a book and has to cover both federal and state tax. We don't even try to do it ourselves and have to use an accountant. Anyway, all the best to you and Mrs H.

If any other ex-pat posters feel like chipping in here it would be interesting to hear from you (Fin, Catalan, Kentucky, Wicklow, Heb (cos I'm assuming Lewis has declared its independence) and any more,) assuming you are in fact ex-pats. Maybe a new thread so as not to bore other posters to death.

Been using RamsTV since it started. No real issues with quality. Occasionally buffering on laptop but not iPad.

It’s generally been great and an absolute godsend for me to watch games.

I also use a mate’s SkyGo logon to watch when not available on RamsTV. Fully covered and good value for a tenner a month. Even some good commentators and instant replays now.

Same here now Chicago if you have a business importing/exporting (but without the benefit of enjoying a foreign country).

The penny's dropped though, just five years too late.

Good to hear from you Fin. I sincerely hope Rams TV's not something which goes out the door with admin. I would really miss it. I have often thought that promotion to the Prem would end Rams TV match broadcasts but, - promotion? - don't think so! Meanwhile, games which RTV cannot show seem always to be on ESPN plus here.
How long have you been in Finland and where exactly?

I can imagine, Scouse! (forms, I mean.) Not sure who's been dropping a penny or why unless you are referring to Brexit, maybe?
