Foden

Just watched the LFC City game. What a game and what a player this boy is.

Have to admit he is levels above Greenwood and any other player at that age. Generational.

Greenwood is a clinical finisher while Foden is a better allround player. I dont think you can compare them. They have different attributes.

Couldn't even get into the England team
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ron, are you obtuse or do you do it for effect?!

We are talking about how he performed today and generally in a City shirt. He is a generational talent no doubt.

Whether he is picked for England is Southgate's decision, not a reflection of Foden's lack of ability. Southgate is spoilt for choice but can only pick 11 players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Southgate also tends to set up with 2 DM's so as not to lose to the giants of world football that we play in qualifiers. This limits the opportunities for creative players.

Top player. His Dad's a big United fan. Pity young Phil didn't come through our ranks instead of City's
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, mums city, dads United.

I just hope for all of us that whoever manages England uses him in the right way. That he’s already standing out so often for a team like us, particularly in the positions he plays in where maturity is so key and tends to come later, bodes very very well for the future.

Both 'world class' and 'generational talent' are meaningless terms.

How many Generational talents can you have at any one time. Or even in the same city.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Greenwood isn’t generational in my opinion although I do think he’ll be world class. Foden is generational
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Generational talent is Messi and Ronaldo standard

Both Mason and Foden will reach those standards if they carry on the same or better progressional trajectory.
Both very young and will only get better.

Foden is stealing a march at the moment because of Pep, because City are winning things. Because also Foden is playing with far superior players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Far superior players????

Think United has talented if not more than City especially in attack
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It isn’t about attack though, the issue is supply for a player like Greenwood. Right now, he is making his own chances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mason would score 30 odd a season if he played for City

The footy education he would get under Pep and his coaches would set him up for the top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he is at 'the top'

Indeed they are. You can’t have a football forum without the definitions of each being debated at least once a month though

For all the good it's done for Gabriel Jesus, in his sixth season now, barely gets double figures.

Both exciting players

Don’t know if I misread some of the comments here but can’t see either getting anywhere near Messi/Ronaldo level
