He’s asked for his (in)famous song to be stopped being sung at games. I’ve always thought it was racist and ignorant even if the people singing it probably don’t intend it to be so.
Do you think people will respect his wishes? We must have enough songsters in the fan base to change the words to something more acceptable.

Forgive my ignorance but what are the lyrics of the song? Tried Google but 🤷🏻♂️
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To the tune of lord of the dance.
“Park, Park wherever you may be,
You eat dogs in your home country,
Could be worse, could be scouse,
Eating rats in your council house.”
Not a flattering song for anyone but people need to grow thicker skin.

Exactly. If anyone is bothered by it they seriously need to look at themselves.

I think the only people who eat dog in Kota are descendants of Mongolian refugees.
Maybe we can fit chicken feet, bugs larvae or fermented fish into the song?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Park, Park, you've got a dinner dish,
And on that dish is fermented fish.
It could be worse,
Maybe chicken feet,
Or eating bugs if they count as meat.

Don having an absolute stinker. Missing the point completely.
Dogs are eaten in South Korea.
Not all Asians sell DVD’s.
You are missing the point. One is a fact one is not.
Would you be offended by:
Rooney wherever you may be
You eat fish in your home country…
??

The words define Koreans as a whole according to a practice associated with a minority of Koreans, and compare it to eating rats. It's not necessarily racist, and intended in a tongue in cheek way. But structurally it works the same way as a racist joke: reduce the individual to a grotesque stereotype. Either, I always thought it was an incredibly unwelcoming song to sing about one of our players who had arrived from far away: not singing about his qualities, but essentially using the most distasteful association with his nationality as a quip at the expense of rival fans. Just imagine turning up at Manchester United and hearing a song that basically says: you disgust us, but Scousers disgust us more.

There was a better song when we signed Gabriel Heinze and he didn’t turn up for a while after the Olympics and Copa America. To the same tune:
Heinze, Heinze, wherever you may be
You are the king of variety
You wear number 4, you don’t wear 11
You should wear number 57

So and so likes fried chicken
So and so stinks of curry
So and so sells DVD's
So and so is a suicide bomber
All inappropriate stereotypes that would be considered racist, no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suicide bomber doesn’t belong on that list.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Errrrr, why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s far more serious and insulting than the rest.
Casual stereotyping should be allowed to be used for humour as long as it’s not in hateful manner imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In Dons precious little world one person being offended by something is enough to deem it as unacceptable or racist or whatever. If you take that to its logical conclusions, most humour would be inappropriate because some one somewhere is offended by it, and its probably Don
