Its not a coincidence that our possession game has gone up several levels this season and Laporte is one of the key reasons but I can't help but think he is not a better defender than Stones and I know this sounds crazy but Dias isnt as good alongside him.
The stats don't back me up as the defense has been good so we will need to get to 10 games before I can have any conviction in this.
His long balls annoyed me all game and he strikes me as a bit of a sulker so yes I'm sticking the knife in but I give him credit as he is so comfortable on the ball and improves us in that respect. An interesting problem for Pep but makes our defense is as good as it was last season and has several gears.

We have 3 very good centre backs and Nathan Ake. The three are pretty interchangeable with the exception that Dias is a leader and general boss man!

I think Ake is a pretty decent back up and also cover at LB. We are very lucky to have 3 top quality CB's. Competing in 4 competition wills mean all get a decent amount of game time but for Ake some will be at LB in the League Cup.
