Who is the worst football pundit

Who is the worst football pundit out there.

I mean let’s be honest there is quite a few, from Darren Bent, to Danny Murphy, to the cabsolute mind-numbing blandness of Michael Owen, but despite all that incredibly tough competition, I really don’t think you can look beyond the absolute chest thumping anti-intelligence of Steve Nicol on ESPN.

I mean all the ESPN pundits are awful (Except Edem Onouha who is actually fantastic) but manages to reach levels of stupidity that would make the contests of a series of Big Brother cringe with embarrassment. It’s just riddled with cliches, ridiculous analysis that suggests he’s never watched a game in his life (like suggesting Karim Benzema is a tap in merchant), and idiotic predictions like Bayern would get smashed in the CL knock out rounds the year they won the competition (before ending the season saying they were the future of European football).

If you look at his face before he is about to comment on anything it’s like he is actively pushing out any semblance of an intelligent thought from his mind so that he doesn’t even accidentally blurt it out.

For me personally football journalists provide far greater insight and knowledge about the game than ex-players do, and the industry is finally beginning to cotton on to that and I really hope that’s where the future of punditry lies. Like the Guardian Football Weekly podcast is far more insightful than absolutely anything you see on the main football broadcasts.

Is he even a pundit? He's just radio cannon fodder.

He cannot be considered as a pundit. He is actually an insult to Danny Mills and Co to be put in the same sentance as a pundit. That's how low O'Hara is.

Jamie Redknapp - If vanilla looked like an ex player now a pundit it's this doe eyed t 055 er. Absolute dullard aging pretty boy only given air time so bored housewives might take interest. He offers nothing other than vanilla, no insight, no views of interest. A human pigeon, permanently sat on a fence made of vanilla.

Robbie Savage shouldn't be allowed to speak around other humans.

One last thing - Ally McCoist is woefully underused. I know he's more co-comms but he's brilliant. Funny and he knows his onions. Shame he's only on Amazon Prime from the broadcasters I have access to.

Also, and I hate to say this, Ledley King should never be a pundit. He was shaking like a shiiiiting dog when he was covering the derby against Arsenal on Sky.

Yes Ally McCoist, I remember being very impressed with him last year with the Amazon games. More of him please

From my perspective I think Owen gets a really hard time. If you actually listen to him, he's decent. A lot of fans just don't take to him for some reason. I don't really get it. He deserves a lot more respect for both his football career (the early part) and his punditry ability.

I agree with this. It’s evidently just become the common joke/stereotype that Owen is boring, so much so there’s still a lost of supposed quotes he said, most of them not true, that people keep posting everywhere as proof of how inane his comments are. He’s pretty harmless tbh

It was refreshing to hear him again for the Euros (McCoist). Apparently some people don’t like him, was news to me. I have to say that him and Andy Gray’s tone of voice, accent and energy does bring extra dimension to commentary for football matches!

Dunno, Redknapp again like Owen seems just have a default opinion that he’s boring and vanilla. But I rated this clip of him sticking it to Keane and visibly getting exasperated (rightly so cos Keane was waffling tbh on the particular point on Reguilon).

Full clip here but the beef starts at about 1:20 https://twitter.com/thespursweb/status/1366022570986864640?s=21

Take your pick, it would be easier to name the good ones.

The worst have to be Merson, Murphy, Carragher, Nevile, Owen, Warnock, Keown, McManaman and J Redknapp.

Jenas for me. He's absolutely awful. Seems like a nice guy but talks absolute rubbish. McManaman is fun but also rubbish. Owen rubbish. Merson. That Irish guy on RTE, Dunphy or somebody is worse than them all, perhaps even Jenas.

There's some guy on ESPN I think who's awful also, think he's a Spurs fan. Can't remember his name.
