Newcastle In For Kalvin Phillips?

So Newcastle are now backed by the £260 billion Saudi investment fund.

That's 260 BILLION. Not suggesting that's what is available to the Magpies but it doesn't need to be. Man City have spent just over 1 Billion building their team. If Newcastle were to spend twice that it would be less than 1% of the investment fund that is backing them.

Newcastle are now the richest club in the world.

But what about FFP rules? Well Mike Ashley has gone nowhere close to breaking those and there are no existing debts to worry about. The rules look at spending over a 3 year cycle so they can do what they like for a few years before worrying about being sanctioned,

The January transfer window is going to be interesting for Newcastle fans.

Will Kalvin Phillips be on their shopping list?

If so how much would they have to pay to get him or should he not be sold at any price?

Yep, I can see them getting someone like Icardi on loan in Jan - not starting at PSG, but they will take a healthy loan fee. Maybe Vlahovic as he won’t sign a new contract and Fiorentina will be willing to cash in. The likes of Rabiot and Ramsey from Juve would represent a significant upgrade for them.

There are good players that will ensure their survival that will be willing to move in Jan and their current clubs willing to let them go - it won’t take Newcastle as long as people think

why would kp go to them, unless we get religated sometime, maybe?

and as for them spending like crazy, aint gonna happen there are rules to stop such a thing.......

anyway a manager will be top of their list, doesn't matter who you sign unless you have a great manager

At the moment, they are one of the worse teams in the league with a great player in Saint Maximan. Without him, they’d be as adrift as Norwich. Whether a better manager would improve them, I’m not sure, their squad is so poor. This season will still be a struggle for them, especially if they make a poor appointment when they sack Bruce.

Will eventually do well though but won’t be overnight. City took a while to become the force they are now, had plenty of bad over priced signings in there as well

The fact Ole spent 400+ million at united in a short amount of time and they don't look like PL or CL winners, shows how hard it will be for Newcastle.

United have a much stronger financial position and still find it hard to close the gap at the very top.

Best thing the geordies could do is go all out to fund the best coach available, give him a long deal and as much backing as ffp allows each window.

Saw the Newcastle fans on Sky Sports gathering at the ground for takeover, a bit sad considering who's has bought them.

Saudi Arabia has terrible human rights problems, that's where their money is coming from, that's where their success will come from, a country that allows men to sleep with kids, same as Man City. It's morally wrong, but people like Sky (who are always pushing black lives matter and diversity) see no issue here. Obviously if enough money is involved, everything else can go out the window.

Ah the big question is: which manager are they going to go for?

it all depends on who they bring in as manager/coach, to push on a team needs experience, no team has done anything with a yes man

Love to know which of the Prem clubs are now complaining about the Newcastle takeover - could it include the cabal of clubs that tried to shaft the rest of the Prem by forming a Super League, by any chance?
