The Ox returneth ?

There are suggestions in the press that Arsenal are looking to buy back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Liverpool don’t really want him.

I really hope not, there’s a reason Liverpool don’t want him - he’s extremely inconsistent and very injury prone. I’m not trying to be unkind but bluntly he has flattered to deceive throughout his career.

If Klopp can’t get him to deliver on his potential in 5 seasons then I seriously doubt that Arteta is going to manage it. 😐

Who's had the better career individually? Ox or Walcott? Probably have to edge with Walcott.

Walcott got over 100 goals for us mainly as a winger. Plus a bag of assists. He wasn't my favourite player to watch, but there's no denying his end product.

Ox was nowhere near Arsenals best player in 2016-2017. He was never good at Arsenal. He was frustrating and didn't have a footballing brain.

To be fair, in the second half of that season when Wenger deployed him as a RWB, I thought he was very good and was one of our best players. He did play an important role in the 2017 FA Cup win too.

However, the fact he wasn't keen on playing there long term, his desire to be a central midfielder and his lack of consistency/fitness, meant the £40m offer from Liverpool was too good to turn down.

I deny his end product, Walcott averaged 5 Premier League goals per season for 13 seasons playing in a team that at times was more dominant in terms of created chances than any other team in the league. His crossing was woeful and workrate poor - at times it was like playing with 10.5 men. The fact that he edged Oxlade Chamberlain just shows how disappointing the latter turned out to be. 😐

He signed for us when he was 17, and he had quite a few lengthy injuries. Breaking down his goalscoring record on an average per season is unfair imo.

No it’s not, he had thirteen seasons in a dominant side often being supplied by the likes of Fabregas. I watched all his home games live and I can tell you that a lot of the time he was a liability to the team - and sometimes absolute s**t…
Once he left Arsenal we have seen how he has fared, Everton fans offered to drive him to Southampton!

I agree he wasn't a good player to watch and was certainly limited in terms of his skillset. But I maintain his goals and assists record were very good for a winger. He was on fire before he got that ACL injury.

Walcott didn't play a single game for Arsenal in 2005-2006. We signed him in January 2006 so immediately that's not fair counting that as a full season. In 2006-2007 he was mostly on the bench. 2017-2018 he didn't start a single league match he only came on in a few games and he was sold in January 2018 so again not a full season. Then of course had large spells out in 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. He's only had 2 seasons where has played 30+ league games and I wonder how many of them he actually started!

A player whose best moment in the last 2 years has been dancing on the staircase on instagram.

I hope Arsenal do sign him, it would show they still have no intention of moving forwards.
