Superman now Bisexual

NEW: It has been revealed by DC comics that the latest Superman will be bisexual and in a same-sex relationship

What next, Will they reveal Batman has secretly been cheating on cat woman and has been boning and having a secret relationship with Robin all these years?

Ffs honestly nothing against bi or gay people or the idea (and I’m sure they’d also find it fackin stupid) but why do these writers or certain people in elevated positions constantly have to try feel the need to try change history or shows identities to just pander to the woke and like there’s now something bad about being straight? Like leave superman as it is and make a brand new show or movie with the bi version or him in a relationship with a dude

It just fits in with this 'war on woke' agenda. A bit like this whole thread.

Advertising is ultimately geared to making a company more money so the only reason they would use certain actors and actresses is that research will have shown them that they appeal to their target market.

Their research will probably have told them that using mixed race couples will offend the knuckledraggers, who'll complain about it on any platform they can find, so I assume only companies that don't target knuckledraggers would use them in their campaigns.

That will boost sales?

I'd love to know the line of reasoning that leads to commercial companies trying to engineer more mixed race marriages. It is classic right wing conspiracy theory thinking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If every ad was white, there would be comments.

Why are so many ads black- mixed race, rarely asian, when the black percentage of the uk is about 5%?

Why not reflect the viewing public proprtionately?

Just like music, film awards and industry, etc has been pulled for being too white.

Making most ads black is not exactly fair on othrr grouos now, is it.

How many chinese, indian, middle eastern faces do we see on ads, for example?

totally agree oscy

they're trying to social engineer people's opinions

every single advert these days has to have a mixed race couple...what's all that about ?

the western world has gone to the dogs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely such an advert is just depicting two people in a relationship.

Why does their colour matter to you so much?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does the colour of people matter, says you, haha.

You said everything is about race and colour when i said it did not matter, lol.

When tv, film, football, music industry, employers and employees are too white, you and others are first to moan, but when something features black people out of all proportion to population numbers, that is cool, lol.

And the under represented white, indian, chinese, middle eastern people have to suck it up?

How diverse.

I think you may be replying to the wrong poster here, I didn't say that.

Definition of being woke is sound, but some folk who claim to be acting on behalf of others, often do so with little knowledge, and make silly suggestions.

Replacing breast feeding with chest feeding or not being able to say mother in a irish hopital.

Assuming people are offended by ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Happy Christmas.

The ironic thing is that by trying not to discriminate they are now discriminating in a more extreme way. Auditions for these ads must be comical as all the white guys and gals sit in the waiting room and in walks a black fella, their heads must drop.

It's naive to suggest that inclusive advertising is influenced by anything other than commercial reality.

Chris Hackley, professor of marketing at the Royal Holloway University of London explains:

"Advertising that is diverse in body shapes, religions, genders, race, sexualities, disabilities, age and class may offer brands financial reward, depending on their targeted audience. A study of US consumers found 70 per cent of millennials are more likely to choose one brand over another if it demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and diversity". Hackley also suggests that provoking resentment can be beneficial in itself: “Look at, say, Nike, whose campaigns often create a backlash from white racists. They know who their market is and they know the backlash makes them look progressive.”

All corporations have a duty to bring in profits and, for Hackley, “being accused of being white-centric carries a more powerful negative PR backlash than being accused of being too ‘woke’” in today’s climate.” In that sense, there’s certainly a danger that companies cynically adopt progressive ideals to avoid scrutiny.

Jerry Daykin, Co-Chair of the World Federation of Advertiser’s Diversity Task Force, says a very small percentage of purchase decisions are truly influenced by “purposeful” advertising, though that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to be gained for brands that do so. “There’s obvious opportunity in ensuring diverse audiences feel spoken to and well communicated with,” adding, “When you combine a broad range of diverse minority audiences you often find they can add up to a majority.”
