Are Pep's City The Best PL Side Ever?

Objectively speaking, which other team gets 100 points in a PL season?

The best team the PL have seen of late, was the Liverpool team that last won the title.
A team that will again win the title this season, and may well go unbeaten to boot.🙂

I think one or two are misunderstanding the question / topic that is being asked.

Surely this thread relates to the PL. Not to the CL. Or the FA cup or League cup. But to the Domestic league.

That said, the competitions are not necessarily interchangable. I get why people would bring up achievements in other competitions in the same season.

But again, this thread isn’t about which team is the greatest of all time, or the greatest across various competitions.

It’s specifically about the domestic league. The PL.

Saying one team has had the greatest PL season and thus can be in the mix for the best ever PL team is all about league football. Not about Cup football.

We all know that in cup football, it isn’t necessarily the best team that goes on to win the cup competition. So bringing cup competitions into a discussion about league competitions, is, for that very reason, null and void.

And before anyone gets their panties in a twist, this isn’t about discrediting such teams who have achieved success in cup competitions, be those cup competitions domestic cups or European cups. It’s just simply not about such teams.

I don't know how anyone can dispute a team with a record points total, record goals scored and a record gap between the side that finished 2nd can be anything other than the best.

It’s a bit like disputing Ben Johnson’s achievements in sprinting. The fact is he cheated to gain an advantage.
The same with many dopers in drugs or in City’s case financial doping.

You can’t dispute what’s on paper but it means nothing where the team athlete or player has been cheating. City got off the hook but how many opposition fans really think justice was done? Not many I think.

No, it’s not like that at all.

It doesn’t matter what opposition fans think. Of course they are going to ignore the actual facts of what happened. Because it suits them to do so. Nothing more.

You made a comment earlier in this thread that completely missed the facts of what actually happened. Yet you’ll cling to it, as though it has some kind of resonance. Well it doesn’t. And you bringing it up, while being ignorant of what actually happened, just makes you an idiot.

But you continue to do you.

Were Liverpool financially doped when the Moores Family backed Shankley all those years ago?

Investment into a football club isn’t a bad thing. All clubs have, to varying degrees, benefitted from it.

It’s only a problem when investment into a club has resulted in said club competing.

When City were taken over, investment wasn’t seen as the problem. Back in 2012, the narrative was that money doesn’t guarantee success. That’s a more pure narrative all said and done. But when success came, at the same time as FFP coincidentally, well then a new narrative was formed. Then it was all about dirty money, oil money (despite the hilarious contradiction that that resulted in).

Now we have the likes of Agger who doesn’t have the mental capability to distinguish one from the other. On a thread about City’s achievements over that last 3-4 years. Instead this clown is trying to diminish that by harking back to to an investigation that was referring to 4-8 years ago, while ignoring that that investigation was legally proved to be futile.

People will cling to what they want. In order to do nothing more than dismiss what actually happened.

It’s pathetic.

And just watch - this post of mine will be jumped on. Facts don’t actually matter to these people. They stick their fingers in their ears and just continue with their diatribe.

In terms of the teams performance, consistency and relentlessness - without doubt.

In terms of individual talent possibly not. However the squad depth was exceptionally high.
