Players apologies on Socials

Has it gone too far now? Every week we don't win (which seems too often at the moment) we get the usual prepared apologies. I don't get it. They aren't losing on purpose. It's sport where either one team or both has to lose pts every single week.

If it was just once in a while it wouldn't be too bad but when it's nearly every week maybe just don't post anything. Don't think it's helping the situation reading the replies to their posts.

It's especially tiresome when they promise a reaction, then play just as badly the following game.

Yup, there's nothing wrong with saying 'sorry that wasn't good enough' though, the majority of United supporters would agree with them. We're not seeing any difference though, so it feels like empty words right now.

So true.

One or two in particular can't hide behind the manager tactics. Their own individual performances have been so bad and they are unable to pass a ball 10 yards which can't be blamed on Ole. That's just lack of effort / concentration.

Some of them will do the same to the next manager too if they stick around. I have no doubts.

It's a fair point. I would say there's been an issue with our players not looking fit enough going back certainly to Jose's time, if not even earlier. So it's not a problem that can be attributed solely to the manager. We are incapable of raising the tempo and applying pressure for more than a couple of a minutes at a time, for example.

That's a lack of control in midfield. It's been a known issue since forever.

I feel like there are a lot of bigger things to take issue with in the world (and even the world of football) right now. I don't have a problem with a footballer to acknowledge to fans that the performance wasn't good enough, and it's not as though it's in the power of an individual player to turn around the team's performances, so I'm not sure they are empty words.

Keep abusing the players on social media (not racial). Let them know it won't be tolerated

Is the wrong answer

Let’s be honest, it’s not the players saying it. It’s some overworked 18 year old intern/PA copy and pasting platitudes from some laminated PL emergency quote book. Thank good Jermain Defoe isn’t still playing or else the workload would have pushed his assistant over the edge.

Who is it apologising?

It's a returning banned apologiser with a different username

I think what makes them a bit pointless is that you know most of these players haven’t even written them themselves. Instead their social media team (which pretty much any PL player will have these days) who have to make sure the brand of the player is intact.
