Starting against arsenal would make sense after that performance.
Its a cup game so not a lot to lose in that regard.
Would be a real statement by the club too towards geldheardt and how they see him.
Maybe it was different times back then, but I dont remember white and byram getting that much praise for their work in the reserves as well as what they did on their debuts so that makes me hopeful.
Also to see shack, struijk sommerville and geldheardt on the pitch at the same time is a truly amazing statement of how far our youth system has come back under bielsa.

Think Orta deserves praise for it as well.

Absolutely Orta deserves credit.

Made such a difference when he came on.
Looks the real deal but let's give him some time before we get carried away.
Really enjoyed today's game.

Earl, not getting carried away. As someone who's watched U23s, I wanted him to get the call for the
first team. When many suggested that should happen,
a few said he wasn't up to it, as the step was too big.
Today proved he's more than ready and up to it.
He was a revelation in my mind.

We all remember when Raphinha arrived last year and showed off his box of technical tricks.
He is physically more developed and perhaps stronger, but either way, he continued to get more and more game time and each time stepped up a level.
We can only judge Joe based on his performance during the minutes he is on the pitch.
Hopefully, next up will be a full 45 minutes.
It's important to highlight that what separates Joe from some of the aforementioned above is that he is making his bow in the Premier League not in the Championship.
Indeed, a number of them who left us for bright lights of the Premier League made little impression, but at least with all three of Geldhardt, Summerville and Cresswell, we can say so far, so good.
Naturally, we would love to see these lads playing alongside Phillips, Ayling, and of course Raphinha if possible, just to see how they perform playing alongside world class talent.

I’d put Joffy in the starting lineup for the Norwich game. He will give them something to worry about.
He showed far more positives in his substitute appearance today than Roberts has in three seasons imho. No reason not to start him if Bamford’s still out.

great to wake up on a Sunday morn with a very slight hangover but a warm glow after a gutsy performance from us yesterday, as opposed to a more prolonged hangover following the rubbish we served up at Southampton. Agree with RealEstate - Joe Geldhart needs to start up front against Arsenal so he can start to step up through the gears and push Bamford and Rodrigo.
Great Rodrigo had the balls to take, and bag, that penalty - I almost couldn't watch! He was supercool!

Why don't more of our front men do what Joe did, running at men and inviting a tackle in the box? He petrified 'em. Moreover he showed passion in bucketloads. Teamwise I thought it was a decent performance apart from the lapse in concentration from Jack and then the defence. As someone on here said, this feels like our Brentford moment - I won't be upset if we lose to Arsenal – it's more important that we put up a decent showing to carry some momentum through to the Norwich game.

Gone under the radar as a result of Gelhardt being alright, but actually Rodrigo had a good game the other day (Cooper was comfortably MotM as well, by the way), and think its pretty clear that he plays best off someone else. He was playing as a second striker most of the game, and think it really worked. He ran really well and held the ball really well.
Gelhardt shouldn't start against Norwich off the back of half an hour where he looked decent. Give him a few more games impacting off the bench and see if he can do that consistently before making any calls like that.
