Reece James' Year?

We might be seeing the beginning of him pulling off a quite remarkable season (as if he didnt last year tbf given the end of it)

This season in the PL he has already grabbed 4 goals and 2 assists.

In all comps he has 4 goals and 3 assists which is the most goal involvements of anyone at the club.

10 or so games in those are stats any attacking midfielder would be cool with. In fact he is producing at the rate of some of the best attackers in the league (barring the likes of Salah of course)

There is a bit of debate on here about whether our wing backs count as defenders - but his record at this stage is doing fine even if we start counting him as a midfielder

The quality of his last 3 goals was mad as well. A chip finish vs Norwich and 2 bangers vs Newcastle with either foot

it was easy to see why Livramento chose to leave he too is a very good right wingback as Saints are finding out now.
Our wingbacks are in great form this season Reece Chilly and Alonso all good at scoring reece is the best provider Chilly gets into fantastic open positions and shoots well, Alonso the wakest defending but is a great attacking wingback and easily the biggest threat in the air.

Yeah i think in Trent and Reece we need to find a way to play both for England

Perfectly achievable in my mind if we had a tactically astute manager

Absolutely, we have an abundance of decent youth in and around the club, we can never keep them all sadly.

Also I hate it when people start talking about players being the best in any given position, it just hypes up interest and media speculation linking them with other clubs.

Is it crazy to say
----------------------------------------------------------------------
depends if you have 9 hours spare to debate it with liverpool fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That may well be fairly accurate but it's also a compliment to both players imo. Both are at a very high level.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
By both I believe you mean Trent? It would be a shame if now Walker is ageing that we can’t fit both James and Trent in the England side. James a lot more solid and robust but still good going forward and Trent just a creative force
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd be surprised tbh. One man's creative force is another man's unnecessary risk. Nothing seen to date suggests Southgate wants creativity outside of his attacking 3/4. And with a SF and Final behind him, it's difficult to argue against.

Think RJ is nailing down the RB slot for England.

But James is so solid defensively I’m wondering if a back 3 with wing backs would be perfect or not
