LFC: Best Strikers Ever ?

Morning lads

Been a lot of talk about Mo Salah this season. His performances have been breathtaking and the numbers staggering.

Every club has their dud strikers / attackers but I do think we’ve been spoilt at Liverpool. From the 60s onwards, we’ve had:

Hunt
St John
Keegan
Dalglish
Rush
Aldridge
Fowler
Owen
Torres
Suarez

And whilst Mo plays more on the flank, he’s still our recognised attacker along with Mane.

For 60 years, we’ve had forwards that have been the envy of the world.

Do any other clubs come close to that line of strikers/attackers? I can’t think of many. Even United are now going on 10 years without what I would consider a great striker.

Well the argument I thought was more about if Cavani could play the role that Firmino does where he brings out the best in the others, but then it seemed to sidestep to goal and assist stats.

Either way I think Cavani is at least as good, I just think his age makes him the less sensible option, but I think that would be the case when comparing about 90% of players at similar ages
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you think Cavani is as good at playing a false 9 role there really isn't a lot I can say, or even want to, because it's daft.

These are the stats per Transfermarket for both players entire PL careers

Cavani: 11 goals/3 assists in 1580 mins. G/a every 113 mins.

Firmino: 70 goals/48 assists in 16,674 mins. G/a every 141 mins.

"Even United are now going on 10 years without what I would consider a great striker"

The likes of Van Persie, Zlatan, Cavani and Rooney are all up there with anyone in that list, not to mention Ronaldo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Going on 10 years. Van Persie left 7-8 years ago.

Only Rooney can be considered. Even his latter years weren’t great.

Zlatan not a great striker for United

Cavani not a great striker for United

You may as well have said George Weah for Chelsea
----------------------------------------------------------------------
May as well put Ighalo in there if including Zlatan

Not exactly had a bad one has he but always felt he stayed too long at Napoli. Feel he was made for the Prem.

Still, he will be exceptionally rich and lauded, rightly, in his homeland.

Don't know why but thought he had spent ages at Napoli and only a few years at PSG but it's actually the other way around.

He certainly didn’t have a bad one but how great would he have been in the Prem at his peak. Considering he was unsure about remaining in England last year it was probably never possible when he had other suitors.

I feel the majority who spent their best years at PSG don’t leave the same legacy. Verratti and Neymar are others maybe even Thiago Silva.

Yeah it's simply not as respected as a league.

For all I know Cavani had his kids happy at school in France and was earning great money in a good league.

But skill set wise he looked absolutely made for the Prem. Think him and Rooney would have smashed it in fact.
