Bolton Wanderers v Stockport County

An old rivalry resumes after nearly 20 years. Bolton v Stockport a greater Manchester derby was a regular fixture between 1985 and 2001. Promotion rivals in the third tier and a regular fixture in what is now the championship. Andy Walker v Kevin Francis. A real rivalry at the time. Bolton promoted to the premier league ended that regular fixture and by the time Bolton were relegated back to the championship Stockport had dropped to non league. A bleak few years Stockport dropped to the national League north and went part time. Now under new ownership Stockport are 9th in the national League and hoping for promotion back to the football league. Big ambitions and have ex Bolton captain Antoni sarcevic in their squad. From a Bolton point of view need to get to that 3rd round. Been a poor run out in the first round the last 2 years to Plymouth and Crewe. Team news. Only jones and tutte injured. Bakayoko is fit and Edwards and Amaechi are getting closer to full fitness. Comley left the club in mid week. Sunday afternoon football. 3pm kick off.

So the great Jay-Jay Okocha has signed up to play in the charity game. That is one name that should pull a few fans to watch the game.

For me, he is the most skilful player ever to grace the Reebok stadium. Well done to the organisers for securing his presence and a big thank you to Jay-Jay for agreeing to make the trip.

Port vale joined Bolton in the knock out phase. Kind of think we should prioritise the efl trophy 🏆 . Cup can put the u18s out v Stockport for me. Sooner or later you hit a brick wall in the fa cup, all ends up so pointless at the end.

We have to think of the money in all the cups but not at the expense of the league.

Yes Ghost, another big name to come back to the stadium. Albeit now being called The University of Bolton Stadium.

Gethin wants to be the Bolton manager for the game, whilst Ian Evatt wants to take part in the game. It should be a good day.

Ian Evatt says Xavier Amaechi’s return from injury will be “massive”.

Ian Evatt has never been one to under cook the Goose but is he in danger of overcooking it in this instance?

Xavia has not been able to play a league game this season because of his pre-season injury. He's still not fit enough to return to take his place in the squad and when he does, he may not be match fit for several weeks.

We all hope that he slots into the team seamlessly but we all know things don't always pan out the way we want them too.

Let's hope that Evatt has got this one spot on because we could do with a little more inspirational play on the pitch. We have Dapo who is a real talent and he has the ability to change a game. Let's hope that Xavia has the same affect.

Also if you can't get to unibol the game will be streaming on Ifollow.

Already got my ticket and a day off so may make an evening of it.

Sheehan and John fit to play with Amaechi on the bench, we need a win to calm some of the natives.
