Kevin Friend did his best for Watford…

Being a referee is a difficult job, I accept that, but Kevin Friend as referee made it look impossible…

Arsenal committed about 6 fouls and got 4 Yellow Cards, Watford committed what felt like 26 fouls and also got four Yellow Cards (including a double Yellow) - Watford’s entire strategy appeared to be to foul any Arsenal player that looked dangerous and go down as if they had been shot if any infringement occurred against them. 🙄

I understand why they try it on - I don’t understand how Kevin Friend was so biased in his officiating.

The fact Arsenal’s goal was scored after not giving the ball back was a delicious irony in the context of the situation - especially as the Watford player sprang up when he realised nobody was buying his play acting. 🤣

Kevin friend has never been our friend. More like Kevin Khunt.

Then again, have any of the Premier League referees ever been our friend? Maybe on the very odd occasion we get one who hates us a little bit less than the other team but in all honesty, anyone who has watched every Arsenal game in the last 10-15 years and isn't completely blind should be aware of the corruption that has gone on behind the scenes and led to what we have seen - and still see, every weekend.

Basically, we have a lot of fans who are too snobby to admit the truth, they think it's beneath themselves and beneath Arsenal to blame the referees, they think blaming the referees for cheating has to mean blaming them for our performances & results entirely. This is bizarre because nobody is saying that but there is absolutely no question that for the last decade or more referees have cost us many points and progression in various competitions.

Then you have other fans who hide behind the: "They are just incompetent" drivel. Yah, they are extremely incompetent. Isn't that convenient though and isn't it convenient that this incompetence works against us 9/10x. Isn't it a convenient disguise for corruption to just say: "they aren't very good, but we don't have any better" and to protect them in a bubble where they are not questioned and interrogated. Why is this all too often swept under the carpet week on week by Sky, BBC & others, particularly when it comes to horrendous refereeing performances against Arsenal in general? Why is nothing being done about this? Why aren't they training better, younger referees? Why do we see the same ugly old fakkin faces every season.

Then you have the fans of clubs like Liverpool & Man Utd who have frequently benefited from this corruption over the years who just flat out deny its existence and will swear blind they've never seen a referee favour them when everyone else in the World sees officials (and not just referees) blatantly and utterly cheating their opposition.

I'd love to know when an investigative journalist / panorama is going to have the balls to investigate this. Seems like everyone is scared to talk about it.

Watford put the ball out due to an injury.
Arsenal chose not to give it back and scored.
Ranieri complained that Arsenal showed a lack of respect

There was nothing wrong with the Watford player.
It wasn't a foul, just a coming together, nowhere near the ball really.
As soon as the Watford player realised nobody was falling for his acting class he got straight back up sharpish.

+1 Exactly, Watford were fouling, play acting and time wasting from the first minute.
