So Dean Smith has gone. Not too surprised. Things weren't working, and hadn't been really since the start of the year. Time to see if someone else can pull it together.
Having said that, a big thanks to Dean for his time here. He has had an enormous impact. Resurrecting the club from the mess Bruce left, to promotion, PL survival then 11th in the PL, was massive. He got the club. He improved almost all the players we bought, and has also opened the door for the exciting talent amongst the youth players. He didn't quite seem to be able to organise those players into an effective team, especially without Grealish, which is why we've stumbled. But he's left of with some outstanding memories, and restored the spirit in the club in the process.
So thanks again Dean, and and all the best for the future.

Seems to be a decent manager and a nice guy, that most Villa fans respected.
Already saw him touted for the Norwich job so probably won't be out of work for long.

Agree with this. His record without Grealish is awful, even in the Championship. He averaged 0.85 points per game without Grealish in the Premier League, which is enough for 32 points and possible relegation.
