So We Just Go For It, Right?

So what’s the point in playing for anything other than a win. No point being conservative with two DMs when a point is as useless as a loss.

I seem to recall us being in a similar situation when only wins would do in 2008 but we ended up getting stuffed all the time because we were trying to win games.

The difference this time is that we aren’t facing prem quality every week.
Admittedly, we are in the next two games but I say stuff it, let’s go for it. Throw caution to the wind and lets buckle in for the ride.

Wayne, give us some attacking gung ho! football to enjoy as we charge triumphant to league one.

What’s the worst that can happen? Lowest points in league history? Meh!

Well I think we are now preparing for next season so I would like to see us trying to get a style and personnel that will suit what awaits us. Going all-out attack every week is unlikely to be successful. A solid defence, good shape without the ball and trying to attack swiftly and in numbers when we get the opportunity. That'll do for me.

I really don’t see the point in preparing for next season as probably only Curtis Davies will be left. It’ll be a completely new squad. Anyone who is ambitious will leave. Young players who have tasted championship football will not take a step down and why would they. Bielik, Jozwiak Lawrence Shinnie Byrne will all go. Bird Buchanan Sibley Knight will not play Div 3 and after Stretton Festy MacDonald and Watson get a few games they’ll be scouted away too.

This season is gone the players will be too. Just go for it.

Fozzie may stay too.

I don't think we can assume that large numbers of players will leave. There are other clubs which have been relegated but have kept hold of players. Barry Bannan is playing in League 1 at the moment for example. No doubt there will be a bit of an overhaul but we will have to wait and see how big it is. No doubt Rooney will talk to players and find out what they want to do, and it depends what interest there is from elsewhere when most clubs will be trying to reduce costs. I may well be completely wrong but I think we might well lose fewer players than we might suppose.

I’d like to share your optimism Vidal but human nature is hard to overcome. We are loyal to DCFC and would probably play for nothing but these young lads dream of having their face on the front of the next FIFA update and you can’t do that taking a drop to league one when you’ll get offers at a higher level. Our talent will go. We’ll have young lads with potential.
Rooney can’t win here. If he bloods the U23s and they do well the exposure will get them noticed and they’ll be off.
This is why I say just go for it while we still have a team.

The only thing that will prevent clubs poaching our young players is that they are broke too. Only premier league clubs and clubs with parachute payments can afford anything.

Well it seems you know for certain what will happen which sort of ends any potential for debate or discussion. So I guess I will wait for the next thread.

May as well, nothing to lose at all

Good article Rameses and quite thought provoking. I think there's no point in playing for a draw. Wins are the only way ahead. That said we haven't won many to date. Of late Sibley and Stretton have been back in the U23s. I was a bit surprised Mcdonald wasn't in the squad today as he didn't play v Man U the other night so guess he's injured. I think we have to prepare for League 1... whilst going for it...if that's at all possible.
Anyway... on to 2nd half v Muff....UTR
