Nucleus of the squad should be (in no particular order, except sort of alphabetical) Fernandes, 'Fred', Maguire, Matic, Pogba, Ronaldo, Shaw, Varane and DvdB.

AWB, Cavani and Sancho (and maybe Martial) can stay (for now).

The rest can ferck off.

New epl experienced centre forward, gk, and back up for central defence are priorities

I'd imagine:

Pogba, Mata, Cavani, Lingard to all leave on a free, with Matic probably staying due to 3 mids leaving.

I'd expect AWB to stay with Trippier coming in on a free.

And then a priority signing to be Haaland + CM + Trippier would be what the club will be looking to do.

Haaland I doubt we will get unless we finish the season completely different to how we started it, but I'd bet my life that's the current train of thought at least

I doubt we'll ever get rid of Mata or Lee Grant. They perform important roles on match day by alternately wearing the Fred the Red costume.

They wear the costume together. Grant wears the body and legs, Mata stands on his shoulders wearing the head.

I think Grant was kept on due to the covid situation. Having 4 keepers gives us a bit of cover if we have an outbreak, and not having to throw a youngster in at the deep end.

Newcastle got caught out in pre-season. Had 2 18 year olds as their only keepers for quite a while.

I'd presume one of the keepers (i.e. Grant) doesn't train with the other 3 as usual.

They are also required to keep goal in training / practice matches.
