Lots of claims surfacing that that we could move for Poch within days and potentially have him in for Sunday.
Id be very much behind this if it happens, but id be very surprised if it did.
1 - Up until Ole was sacked, all the reports were Ten Hag, Rodgers and Zidane were front runners if he got the boot.
2 - It had been a case of when not if Ole would get the sack for a while. Surely then if Poch was desperate for the job / United wanted Poch, United would have known before Sunday.
3 - If the club had known Poch was willing to come and was obtainable now, why would they announce their plan was to use Carrick then an interim coach until the Summer?
As I say, be great if it happened, but i cant see it myself.

Things can change quickly. If we had thumped Watford Ole would still be manager.
Poch has to be careful if he does want to come, he is still in the CL and won't want to undermine his position there;
The front runners thing is just made up media talk
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im.not say8ng Poch should have come.out andnsaid j want Oles job, but his agent would have contacted United and said look, Poch would be VERY interested if you find yourselves looking for a new manager any time soon.

Poch doesn’t have an agent, he’s manages his own career.

It could be that the club believed Poch wasn't available until the summer, but he appears to have made it clear that he is available sooner. On the other hand, it could be that we are waiting on Ten Hag until the summer and Poch is just making us aware that he is available in the hope that he can engineer a move now.
To me it feels more like Poch isn't our current preferred option. Which would tie in with us looking for an interim until the end of the season. And I kind of hope that this is the case, as I think he is the best option for us (albeit based on limited knowledge of the man).

Don't think they will throw him in for Chelsea away. Arsenal at home a week on Thursday could be the Poch debut.

Hopefully it’s a one way trip to Manchester for him this week.

Hopefully these rumours are unsettling the PSG squad

1. Zidane has ruled himself out & Ten Hag is very unlikely to leave Ajax mid-season. Those two things alone already speak to the veracity of the "front runner" rumours. Made up nonsense.
2. Falsely presupposes the United hierarchy were planning to sack Ole. They plainly were not and didn't have any contingency plans in place. It would have been incredibly poor form quite frankly on the part of both parties (United/Poch) to have been making noises to each other prior to Ole's sacking anyway. What should have happened is he was let go of prior to the international break and the club could then have used the time to sound out potential candidates.
3.Why would the club have known if Poch was willing to join right away? Why would they necessarily have expected to know this until very recently? We don't truly know for sure if that's even the case.
Personally I have some lingering doubts about Pochettino, but would have had less doubts had he seen out the season with PSG, won the league and put in a good showing in the CL. But equally, he's a vastly better option than what we have right now, and superior to any interim we bring in. He's he gettable now then the club should (and probably will) go for it.

My guess would be that the hierarchy probably do prefer Poch, and are now just learning about his potential availability. Prior, the two best options on paper; Poch & Ten Hag, weren't/aren't available until the end of the season.
If one of their top options is available sooner, they'll go for him.

I’d be really surprised to see this - Poch is winning the French league and has a big CL game this week. He’d have to have some major beefs to leave PSG mid season.
I do however think he’d suit Utd a lot better than PSG. He’s a training ground coach that works with players to make them fitter and better, to drill his teams and to bring young players through. He’s not a manager of ‘galactico’ types which seems to be the road PSG have taken whether he likes it or not.
My only query would be, the job he did at Spurs was so full on - it was his big break and he gave so much of himself to the club, apparently working night and day in the early years, to take us up the levels he did and transition us into the new stadium too, that he did look utterly burnt out by the end and I wonder whether he’s actually had his peak coaching years at THFC, whether he could re-implement it all over again at MUFC where major honours are an expectation rather than a bonus.
I really love Poch - he’s humble, passionate, classy and a genuine good guy, was always proud to have him as the figurehead of our club and have always known he really loves Spurs, as he confirmed in his interview the other day so it would be weird and not great to see him coaching another PL club, but the reception he’d get at WHL would be immense. I’d find myself wanting Utd to do well again (unless it impacted Spurs).

👍
Apparently he’s been living in a Paris hotel for the past few months and has never really settled there. His family are back in England and he wants to return. He’s good friends with SAF and I’m sure he thinks this is an opportunity to manage a real club instead of the plastic PSG.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His family live in London, have done since 2014 when he joined us, his younger kids are at school there and his older lad is on the books at Watford. By train it’s about the same journey from there to Paris as it is to Manchester, so I’m not sure that issue would be resolved unless he uproots them all to Manchester.
Yeah personally I think he’d be a fool to turn the opportunity down, PSG is a sheitehouse club, he could do good things at Utd and to be honest he’s the appointment you should’ve made when Jose was sacked but at that time he hadn’t long signed a new 5 year deal with us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The one thing that feels off is the fact that Pochettino is supposedly ready to jump ship midway through a season. He isn't the sort to leave a job half-done, so I'm surprised to hear he's happy to leave before at least seeing out the season and winning the title.
Then again, the United job would suit him far better than PSG as you say, and I guess the opportunity might not be there in the summer.

The wording of the statement, saying we were looking to appoint an interim manager (after Carrick) until the end of the season, was just weird. Why say that? It might not matter in the scheme of things, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that anyone in charge knows what they're doing.
