Bolton Wanderers v Doncaster Rovers

2 years after the last fixture between the 2 clubs at the unibol was postponed and eventually cancelled Bolton finally play Doncaster at the unibol. It seems that long ago the fuss over Bolton unilaterally postponing the match siting player welfare issues has barely been mentioned. The current situation Bolton looking comfortable in midtable in 13th but dropped out of the play off picture with just 4 points from 7 games. Doncaster are 23rd 4: points from safety. Team news. Bit of a disaster really. Out long term with no comeback date Sheehan, Williams, Jones, Brockbank, Baptiste, Bakayoko, Tutte which leaves just 15 fit pros available for tonight if Doyle is passed fit. 2 winnable home games this week and Bolton must target maximum points to buffer against more injuries before the transfer window opens. Kick off 8pm.

Was a good plan sending players out on loan for game time. It has highlighted the need for a proper reserve side at home playing on a regular basis.
I've said it before, to keep cost down for teams below the championship, we should have something for the reserves organised between the N.W and W.Yorks clubs.
Get Cadbury's back on board and we can have a proper Roses Reserve League. It'll grow on you !

It's a good idea, you just have to convince Sharon.

I see that Evatt is considering bringing Baps back into the team for tomorrow. Also, Xavia has been knocking on Evatt's door telling him he is ready to start tomorrow.

We could definitely use his on the pitch but whether or not Evatt will risk him is another thing.

He likes to push his luck with players who are not 100% does IE. How many times have we heard somebody was carrying a knock, been ill or had injections end up playing.
Have we overcooked the super high fitness training regime or does the grass at Lostock need to be shorter and those fancy expensive thin boots need chucking out.

Following feedback from Clubs remaining in this season’s Papa John’s Trophy, the EFL can confirm Clubs will be permitted to make five substitutions from the seven they nominate for the remainder of the 2021/22 competition.
We'll be lucky to name 7 on the bench let alone have 5 fit to come as subs.

For me, the Pappa John's trophy has to be binned. We have too many injuries to risk having any more in the sick room. Leave our most important players on the bench and play them when the opposition tire, or play them until halftime and then sub them. Probably the latter would be a better option.

For me Tuesday v Fleetwood is the biggest game so far. Winning this is a realistic target. Really fancy a trip to Wembley. Next round is in January I think.

The one good thing to come from being knocked out the FA Cup of course is a free weekend when the next round is scheduled. Could be good for the remaining players to get a bit of down time.

iFollow today could be classed as an over 18's horror, we need warnings on screen if any heavy or late tackles are about to happen so we can look away. Dramatic music as well if the ref reaches into his pocket for a blood red card. Will they add the number of fit players we have left alongside the score.
It could be more frightening to watch than when the Cybermen first appeared in Dr Who.

I think the angels are more frightening.

It's ten years since we lost Gary speed. Where has all that time gone? It doesn't seem anything like so long ago.

It was earth-shaking news at the time and no one who watched him play for us will ever forget him.

He was a quiet unassuming player, who for his age, was as fit as any player we had on the park and a joy to watch. Why he left us we will never know but one thing is for sure, he will never be forgotten.

The Bolton News has two articles featuring Ian Evatt and in both, he bemoans our injury crisis.

We all know the impact that the club has felt through our recent injuries and there may be worse to come.

However, there is nothing that we can do as a club but to get on with the fixtures and do the best that we can with the players that we have.

January is just over a month away and we have a busy Christmas period to weather but in reality, it will soon pass.

The real test will be when new players are brought into the club and how successful our recruitment will be. we are led to believe that our system is good and work has been done to ensure that we have targets who hopefully can make a difference.

If we can emulate what was achieved last January we should be in a relatively good place come to the end of the season.

As always, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Let's hope our chef is of Michelin Star standard.
