Carra and Henry on Ronaldo

https://twitter.com/cbssportsgolazo/status/1463640566747385857?s=21

Not everyone will agree but unfortunately I do.

I don’t buy into the “where would we be without Ronaldo argument?"

It’s not all his fault but we’ve regressed as a team since he’s joined.

Hopefully the new manager can sort this out.

Don't think Mike Fellon will be happy with some foreigner waltzing in and putting his cones out.

I agree with other posters who have said from the off the Ronaldo signing was a panic buy, “we can’t let him join City so just buy him” seemed to be the clubs thinking rather than how will he actually fit into the team, but we I don’t think we’d be much better without him tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, and I also think that if it wasn't him, and someone had said 'there's this player, he doesn't track back much but he'll score you 10 in his first 14 games' we'd have been all over it.

We all love a nice tidy single reason to blame when thing's go wrong, whether it's the manager or Ronaldo or the coaches, don't we?

Has less pressing from the front caused countless individual errors in defensive situations?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mate, it's ronaldos fault that awb lindleoff and Maguire are the worst defenders in any top team in Europe - didn't you know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Athletic's analysis of our defense states that "Lindelof, often considered a weak link, has actually been the one United defender roughly doing the right thing, and has rarely been at fault for concessions."

They excoriate Maguire, AWB, Shaw and Bailly for their positioning and decision making though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lindelof has always been very good in terms of positioning and reading of the game. It's just his inability or fear of competing physically that causes big problems every time he faces a strong striker.

Shaw and AWB get particular stick for aimlessly pressurising space and letting the opposition easily play behind them. When the opposition inevitably play a cut back to the space at the edge of the box, Maguire's got acres in front of him where a DM should be tracking back to cover late runs. They go through the same scenario for the liverpool, city and Atalanta games, it's depressingly consistent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you're saying is, Maguire has a shopping list for a family the size of 50 of individual errors because of other players - should he take no responsibility for just how awful he's been for us then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where did I say that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your comment made it seem like that is why Maguire is crap, because the DMs aren't doing their jobs properly or did I read that wrong?

Ok, what was the intention of the comment aimed at me then?
I was Maguire bashing and you replied to me with that?
