The key part of this for me is the 2 year (or more) he’ll be staying for after in some capacity. That is a good decision.

He has a lot of knowledge that nobody within our coaching staff or higher up has right now. If he can get the players on his wavelength, and maybe even have an input as to who would fit best to take over in the summer, as well as still being here then it could be successful.
