There's no doubt he comes with the reputation of being a quality tactician and one of the founders of the Gengenpress. It will be exciting to see something we've never seen at the club for sure.
However if I'm being honest this squad of ours just doesn't seem like a great fit for that system does it?
Can Ronaldo be accommodated? Maguire in a pressing team scares the bejesus out of me. Pogba, if he ever comes back, doesn't suit that style either.
Worst of all there's a video of an interview doing the rounds where in 2020 Rangnick basically says Luke Shaw ain't good enough and we need a new left back.
Excited to see how this goes as everyone else is but can't say I'm as confident as others are it's going to work.
Are our players ready for Rangnick?

It’s not even about the squad building either. The worst part is the lack of team building. As whatever the fack it is they do in training is hasn’t made them look any different as a team to what we were three years ago under Mourinho.

Whats the deal with his work permit, I know that was given as the reason he won't be here to take charge by the Chelsea game, but will he begin training on Monday?

I don’t think results across a 60 game season lie, and last season they made a European final, beat their rivals, and finished second in the league ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea.
They did that whilst being managed by Ole, who everyone in the world barring Culer agrees isn’t remotely close to the level of Pep or Klopp, and being coached by an inexperienced team which couldn’t get any sort of coherence in the attacking transition or any organisation in the defensive transition.
If we agree that the management and coaching wasn’t up to scratch, it isn’t too much of a stretch to believe that with a top level head coach and his team in place that this squad would be capable of competing.

In Jose’s last full season he got more points, had a better big game record and qualified from a CL group. The Ole European final isn’t really a flex as it only came about because of failure.
Darren makes a valid point about how Ole’s second season wasn’t any better than Jose’s one and what he left the next manager was no more suitable than what Jose left

I think our results massively lied, our performances were ordinary last season.
A better manager would get better performances from this team, but it’s still miles off competing for the league with the three clubs mentioned.
I also don’t think our performances were just down to the unqualified management team, as I’ve stressed. There’s just a fundamental lack of quality and complimentary attributes among the players in key positions. Until that is addressed the team will be knocking around the mid 60-70 point mark.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this.
I think there are sizeable holes in the Liverpool squad (midfield, depth up front) and in the City squad (striker, fullbacks) too. The big difference between the clubs is in the management and coaching. Swap Pep and his team out for Ole and his, and I think United would have had a more than excellent chance of winning the title last season.
It’s all opinion and speculation of course.

I’m sorry but that’s deluded.

You can’t possibly imagine a 12 point swing (City -6pts, United +6pts) if you swapped out Pep and his team for Ole and his team? Really?

It’s a pointless hypothetical because the squads would be different were they to swap jobs. I think Pep would struggle with this squad as well. Apparently you do given your earlier claims about how unsuited it is to playing a high line, high intensity pressing ball focused style of football.
But I’m laughing more about the big difference being the coaching and management, and not the obvious issue that the squad is as well.
We’ve got some very good players, particularly in attack, but the rest of the side is more comparable to Arsenal, Spurs and Leicester than it is Chelsea, City and Liverpool.
If we then consider their elite coaches, of which there are very few comparable, it shows just how far off we are of them.

Most of them for footballers take a couple of days.
Varane took 14 days...
