I have a feeling that, whilst he’s only in charge today, we can fully expect Michael Carrick to employ the cautious approach that was demonstrated throughout his playing career. By just doing some basic due diligence on Carrick, you learn of how meticulous he is in doing the simple things well and I am confident he will bring that simplicity to our approach today. I am eager to see how we get going in this match, as I think it’ll confirm my theory.
From the first whistle I think we will be compact when Chelsea are in possession and cautious in possession early on. We saw how easy it was for Chelsea to thrash Juventus, and recent results against Chelsea will have absolutely no bearing on today’s game. I just think the players have everything to prove going to Stamford Bridge and I fear that the pressure will get to them. Hopefully Lukaku doesn’t start as he’ll be well up for proving a point against United.
I’m not confident.
