“chelsea rent boy”

been sung for years, used to be funny, is a gay slur, times have changed.

Used to be funny?only to the dim witted

Very naive of you Nick. LIW is right of course - we’re all guilty of having made or laughed at gay jokes in the not too distant past. It’s not so long ago that most sitcoms relied on the stereotypical gay for cheap laughs. Thankfully times have moved on but homophobia is still rife, not least on the terraces.

Never heard it but nothing surprises me these days.

Totally unacceptable.

If you knowingly offend another individual, you are discriminating against their preferences.

What you can’t do, is dictate to another person what they do and don’t find offensive, neither how they should define it. That is the right of any individual to assert it. Period. Disagree and immediately you yourself are discriminating against another viewpoint, and it becomes plain simple hypocrisy.

We used to call it minding your ps and qs.

In reality it’s polite and respectful not to knowingly offend anyone, and common sense to keep opinions to yourself.

That is a simple fact, but some people can’t handle people who disagree with them.

My father is nearly 90; summed it up nicely by saying he didn’t understand where all this behaviour came from and why they can’t just enjoy the football!! What confuses him is that these days some fans spend more time singing insults against the opposition that’s they do songs supporting their own players or team.

I’d say that’s spot in.

Wise words from your old dad - life in all its aspects is so much more complex than it used to be. Let's get back to basics and share your dad's philosophy: 'Just enjoy the football!'

Suspect many of them chanting insults hardly see any of the match, the focus is often more on the opposing fans .....

I must admit, when I see Youtube footage from the terraces I'm amazed how much of fans' energies are spent abusing opposing supporters instead of chanting for their own team. Of course I know a lot of it is just banter but when I used to stand in the kop as a teenager, watching the match was the main activity. Mind you, the team was Bremner, Lorimer, Gray and Co so why would you want to miss a moment of that!

I'm too tight ... I pay to watch the footie, not someone in an Arsenal, Spurs or any other top. Never leave early either. Just a tight wad I guess?

A shame those sort off players ain't around today, todays fall over merchants wouldn't be so keen on standing up again!..

And back then the insults fans threw at each other was a hell off a sight worst then these days, but its time people went with the times and understood that today isn't yesteryear and things are changing, they can moan all they want but whatever happens change is coming!..

If the truth be known, those that were abusing him are doing so not understanding their own attraction to him.
