After suffering their 5th 1-0 defeat of the season on Saturday, Wolves will once be on their travels. On Wednesday they take on Brighton who currently sit in 10th place in the league table, just 1 place and 1 point behind Wolves.

With Raul Jimenez suspended after his foolish second yellow at the Etihad on Saturday, Bruno Lage will probably start with a front 3 of Podence, Whang and Traore. The remainder of the starting 11 is unlikely to change.

Brighton started the season well, winning 4 of their first 5 league games. Sadly though, they haven't won one since losing 2 and drawing 8 of their last 10. With their Sunday game against Spurs postponed due to a Covid outbreak at the London club, the Seagulls should be well rested for this one.

The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1

Gem's prediction: 0-1

The thing that shats all over your argument though Amiga is that we haven't spent wisely.

Compared to who? Cinci I know you think if you were in charge, every signing would be worth 100 million and we would have won the Prem by now. Everybody else lives in the real world.

I love how you speak for me all the time. Never once have i ever suggest throwing money at anything that moves.

Ironic that i am one of the few that keeps wanting us to sell Traore as an example so that we can generate funds to build a better squad.

My simple view is that we have done poorly in the transfer windows for several seasons and have regressed, back to back seventh places should have meant we were in a position to at least go at breaking the top six, instead we decided then was the time to reboot and sign kids for a fortune instead of making small tweaks to an already capable squad and now we are a long way from being good enough to finish top six.

Yes Cinci I am very aware of your view. Comments like we haven't spent wisely is your opinion. Just because you think you could have done better does not make it a fact.

Spending money is easy, spending money wisely is hard. That is the challenge facing all clubs, some do it better than others.

As i said earlier Amiga we really all want the same thing.

I agree boston. I'm just more realistic about the challenges we face getting there. I would love to think chucking an extra few million into the transfer pot changes everything. I know the challenge goes much deeper than that.

To be fair, I think you do too. I'm not so sure about cinci <wink>

I tend to agree with Cinci here, in as much as without substantial investment we will definitely regress. As Spangles said, unless you are constantly improving you are actually going backwards.

Although the players we have retained since our first season have improved and now become established “Premier League quality”, the squad has probably gone backwards.

I think Amiga is being completely unrealistic, bordering on delusional, if he thinks we can maintain our current status without significant transfer spending in the next two windows.

I have never said we shouldn't invest. My argument is and always will be. We should invest wisely.

If that means missing out on targets, or not signing anyone in a particular transfer window, as long as it is done for the right reasons, I see that as a positive.

I don't want to just sign players, if a deal can be done for the right player, then I'm all for it.

It doesn't even have to be significant spending, but we need to stop with this idea that buying prospects is the only path forward.

Amiga keeps talking and apparently praising our model but yet we spunked 35 million on an unproven kid, probably one of the most daft signings a club of our level has ever made.

Semedo is another, so we sold Doc for what 20 mill? And bought Semdo for 30+ mill? Can anyone honestly say we have improved at wing back? I think Semedo is probably a more gifted player on the ball and may suit a different style but as yet we haven't changed our style so replacing Doc has achieved nothing to me and not to mention the further ten million on Hoever.

Meanwhile, while doing this we have ignored two key areas where we have been lacking for a while.

So we both agree we haven't been spending wisely at least.

I personally think we have been doing pretty well in the transfer market. buying players is not an exact science, you can only ever do what you think is right at the time.

I don't necessarily agree with every signing we have made. Velejo even on loan was one of them, I even said so over on Mol Mix and was attacked vehemently by other fans for my opinion.

But I see signings like Ait superb moves, Chan seems a no brainer. I am not convinced by Trincao.

Does this mean I know more than anyone else? who knows? but it goes to show, building a squad runs a lot deeper then simply spending money.

I am not convinced about Trincao either, but he did play well second half against Brighton, as most of them did, not sure he is a finisher though
