SPOILER ALERT- Spider-Man No Way Home

Review

*SPOILER ALERT*

Went to watch Marvels latest release yesterday and what a treat it was.
A nostalgic tribute to three generations of Spidey flicks setting up the MCU Phase 4 for the multi-verse era.

*If you dont wish to know any details then please stop reading beyond this point.*

Brilliant performance again from Tom Holland who has really elevated his Peter Parkar character over the movies. The onscreen chemistry between Zendaya and him is heartfelt.
Absolutely loved the cameo of Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil), lovely touch. Hopefully he reappears in Phase 4.

The film is centered around the reintroduction of previous Spider-Man character through Dr Strange trying to change everyone knowing about Spider-Man's identity. In messing up the enchantment, it pulls in other characters from other multi-verses into their world.
With each previous character appearing in the movie, the screen i was in cheered away.
None more so than Tobey Maguire. To see him again after all these years in the red suit was delightful.

Willem Dafoe as the green goblin was also a treat. He still pulls off the character so well after 20 years.

I'd say the best spidey flick and definitely worth watching at the flicks.
But you probably need to have watched all previous Spider-Man movies, WandaVision, Loki, Dr Strange and the Avengers finale movies to understand all the plot references.

9.5/10

It was alright. The idea of rehabilitating villains from the past with some suspect lotion was a bit far fetched. It only really got entertaining when nostalgia kicked in with the previous spidies.

Dr Strange needs a new job too. He was like Ole at the wheel with those spells.

Naah, the OP on there is a person that filters just because he doesn't like your outlook. I'm filtered from that thread and when I asked why as I hadn't done anything untoward he said he "wanted to avoid my views".

On that basis I suggest not getting invested in that thread as the OP is volatile.

Lets make this the "Comic Book universe discussion thread". I'm sure it will catch on eventually.

The Holland Spider-Man movies are rubbish. He just seems invulnerable with his suit of armour that can think and even attack for him. I don’t like how it ties into The Avengers story either as it makes Spider-Man less independent and there’s even scenes where Iron Man shows up and saves his bacon.

In the earlier Spider-Man movies it felt like he was very much on his own in the big bad world and fending for himself. I prefer the Maguire and Garfield movies to be honest.

No Way Home isn’t great and I felt the reintroduction of the original Spider-Men was just a bit of a cash grab and nostalgia fan service. Garfield stole it though. NWH struggles by not having a main villain as well.

In case anyone is interested, NWH releases digitally tomorrow. I’ll probably download it from Amazon and give it a watch.
