Old Trafford Expansion / Modernisation News

About time this was talked about... Still got the railway issue, but maybe they're starting to think about getting us into the 21st century!

Manchester United are to appoint master planners as they bid to modernise both Old Trafford and their Carrington training ground.

Speaking at a fans forum meeting, football director John Murtough spoke of “exciting potential ideas", although confirmed the club were “still at an early stage".

On the Old Trafford development, Murtough said: “Initial meetings have taken place with a number of architectural and engineering companies to present their credentials as key partners in the project.

“These meetings have produced exciting potential ideas, although important to note that we’re still at an early stage and it’s premature to talk about timetables.

“We have an open mind about the best approach and scope of work. The next step will be for us to appoint master planners."

Addressing the Carrington development, Chief Operating Officer Collette Roche added: “Carrington, we are further down the track. Master planners are in place. Our goal is a fully integrated, three-group facility (men’s, women’s, academy) and we are scoping out plans."

We should be building replica Old Traffords around the world and using augmented reality to show matches on the pitch in the duplicate stadiums, so that it's like you are at the match. You would also get the stadium noise from the live match at the real Old Trafford. Like a backing tracking so that the fans at the virtual match can sing along. The technology is all there. It is just making it happen. We could literally sell Old Trafford out 100 times, so let's literally do it.

Nice.

Or how about a European Super League with stadiums that don't actually require physical fans.

With your season ticket you get a virtual reality headset and a log in, and everything else is CGI.

Yes that's the next step. We need to bleed some money out of them with the hybrid model first, before easing them in to the "virtually" cost free, 100% profit model of virtual reality. With players being virtual, we can play unlimited matches at any time or place. We would be the first club or business in history to have infinite money. I think that that would make me happy.

The next step after we beam United games into all living people's brains is to enable the same technology in dead people so they are not just United til they die but they are United whilst dead as well. A sort of semi consciousness where you are 99% brain dead but can still watch virtual United games whilst the rest of your body decays. The technology would not be biodegradable so very future proof. Cuts out the only uncertainty in the business model, the mortality of people. The monthly subscription fee would be a proportion of their coffin rental fee as they would not legally be dead so still have to pay rent.

That’s how it is now. Why do you think pogba’s hair is different each game?

Because he’s an avatar!!! Like the rest of them!

Think this was talked about in the Evening news a few months back, for the ground the feasibility study is to increase capacity to 90,000 + if it has any wings or not who knows with our owners, could end up just being some gaffer tape on the roof

They have had plans for the South stand 3rd tier development for years. If this is not part of the 'exciting potential modernisation initiatives of Old Trafford that' they have bought up at this fans forum, then what actually are they. There is no other discussion on the agenda.

The use of words like potential, early stages, initial meetings.....etc. makes me smell something bovine.

Predicted lip service from Glazer in relation to the protests last spring. Just get on with it and complete the bowl and raise the attendance to c.100k. End the talking.

I think the time was well-spent, to be fair.
Made me laugh, anyway.

Over a billion lost to interest payments and refinancing loans alone since 2005. Absolute joke. Hope he's rotting in hell that yankie bandit.

Our stadium is in terrible condition.
