Pogba

Are we missing him?

I often criticise him but he is the only one with real quality we have in midfield.

Our midfield is a shambles right now.

He will lose the ball that immediately leads to a goal and you'll remember how sheite he is.

yes, because that happens every match doesn't it?

as for losing possession, fernandes managed that 26 times today, and in the current formation there is no way on earth that he is more suited to that than pogba.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
interesting point you raise about losing possession

I raised this point when fernandes was at his absolute peak. He has always been wasteful but he also produced so many moments of magic.

I personally do not rate midfielders who lose possession "due to unforced errors" regardless of how many goals or assists they are capable of

Check my article. He should not be playing either.

Pogba has brain farts in positions where are a so vulnerable. He slows down the team, dwells on the balls. I do not know how he always get romanticized every time he is injured.

Is he really injured I swear I just saw him in Paris doing a movie.

he gets romanticized because the other options are even poorer
but I do agree, he is far from what I want in a cm

He is a top talent and I always wondered if the coaching can help him translate his talent into actual consistent dominant performances in midfield. Maybe that is just wishful thinking

Everyone in the team makes mistakes, we can't hold that against Pogba anymore.

What we need is his quality on the ball.

The midfield today was so bad

When Pogba leaves he will have spent 6 years at a club where a great talent like him was paired with the likes of McT, Fred, Matic, Herrera, Morgan, Bastian and Fellaini.

Such a shame.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yet the utterly bizarre myth persists that we have "built a team around him and he has still failed".

yet despite constantly farting him around - nowhere better illustrated than this season, which he began on the left in record breaking form, and was rewarded by being moved back into a midfield two - if the season finished today, he'd be our highest rated player on whoscored for 4 of his 6 seasons at the club.

for some reason pogba's seem to linger in people's memories much more, i wonder why. this season i can remember mistakes leading to a goal by fred, lingard, maguire, van de beek, de gea etc, but not one by pogba (and no, i don't count being tackled within half a second of receiving the ball as a mistake).

Pogba is not perfect but was a easy scapegoat for many. Partly because of the antics of his agent and also because he is not the "cm we need" despite his immense talent

but we see even poorer performances when pogba does not play from others

In this current squad, Pogba should be the very FIRST name on the team sheet.

And certainly not be excluded when garbage-to-ordinary like McTominay, Rashford and Greenwood get game time.

Just as important today though was that that starting shape CANNOT function when the two full backs are to defending what Gary lineker would be to goalkeeping.

Against any decent team that line up would have been crucified.

The problem with today is that we were poor in every area. Based on that first half especially, we’re back to needing 7 new signings again.

Maguire for us really does have some horrendous errors in him, I know Varane has done also this far but he’s not played enough for us yet to make any conclusions.

We need a boss CDM and a McT with more consistent, simple forward passing. Basically a mature Keano and a Carrick 😂

As to the OP, from memory I think we were playing better with him tbf but god knows what’s going on with the contract situation - whether he signs again or not something is up and I’d rather that be out of the club.
